The park is beautiful and the trails were great. You can find a trail that is right for your level. I imagined the park to be quiet different, more like the name implies. The bridge is rather short and not very high up. In any case, if you're in monteverde, the cloud forest is definitely a must see. You will see a bunch of different animals, hear all kind of birds singing and get to see the most beautiful views at the top of the mountain. We were walking pretty quickly and took us roughly 3 hours for the entire reserve.

Well I'll start of saying the cloud forest was amazing. But my adventure is probably different then most.
I found it by accident yes by accident.
We were on our way to do the zipping and repelling and THE SUPERMAN you'll see it posted everywhere.
We rented a vehicle for our stay.
After we did the zip lining and repelling. We decided we were going to continue down the dirt road to see how far it goes.
So windy turn after steep canyons to little villages to climbing up windy roads of the mountains we finally came to a point in the road where it was so steep and filled with boulders are vehicle would not go any further. Along the way we noticed a sign for the cloud forest which to be honest we had never read about.
A few hours back we had seen a sign for 4x4 or dirt bikes only. But it didn't look too bad at that point.
Needless to say we got to see thing the average tourist doesnt.
We stopped at the little villages talked to locals.
We were taken to cocoa fields high in the mountains.
It was superb.
So 6 hours later we made it back to the little hotel where the superman zip lining was and the owner came over and asked if we had venture down this road.
We responded by saying yes and started to laugh.
The owner said word had got out that white people were seen many villages away in the mountains.
He went on to say that people very rarely see white people let alone tourists.

A walk in the cloud forest should not be missed. We hired an amazing personal guide named Bernie. He made the trip. We saw a tarantula, numerous beautiful birds and the hard to see Resplendent Quetzal. My kids loved it after they got to see so much!! You have to be patient and having a guide helps you make sure you don’t miss what we would have just walked by. Definitely a must in this area.

Beautiful scenery. There is a good map and trails for all hiking abilities. The staff members at reception will help you decide which hike is right for you. There is a discount for students, so if you have a student ID, bring it with you. The parking lot is small, but there is free overflow parking about 1km away with a free shuttle that seems to run continuously.

This Cloud Forest is amazing! It is so peaceful and apparently it's a lot less crowded than the Monteverde cloud forest because it is a little less known. It is also less expensive to come here. Would highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Outstanding nature preserve. We went with a guide. He asked us how much time we wanted to spend, and he took us on a route that was appropriate to our time frame. There weren't any explanatory signs so the information we gathered was from the guide. He had a green laser pointer to that he used to show us interesting stuff we would otherwise have missed. He, like all the other guides, had a telescope on a tripod that he would set up to show us things that we could see no other way such as the hummingbird nest with the nestlings sticking up their wide open beaks.

We love Monteverde! Our favorite destination in Costa Rica so far. Our guide Mauricio was worth every penny, was very knowledgeable and snapped some marvelous wildlife photos for us all.

A bit pricey, but we enjoyed it. It's a truly magical area.

The Monteverde Park is excellent for an experience in the cloud forest.

I strongly advise to wear boots or good trekking shoes because the paths are often slippery and muddy. It may also be interesting to bring a light coat because it is often cooler at the top of the mountain under the canopy.

Unfortunately, it is true that it is quite rare to see wild animals, this is obviously due to the many passages of tourists who speak loudly and other visitors to the park. Go to this biological reserve to appreciate the exceptional flora and count yourself lucky if you see a wild animal. You will be able to observe without problem the numerous hummingbirds in the coffee at the entrance of the park.

You will also appreciate to have a good SUV or truck 4X4 on the little roads (145, 605 or 606 and 620) that are going up to the park entrance (+- 1hour)

The park is stunning. There is a small free parking right by the park don't get fooled by the 'official parking' some way before the entrance - keep going. The staff were super nice. There's a cafe just outside and a restaurant inside the park (food okay not amazing). At the entrance they asked how much time we had and suggested an optimal walking path for our time. The paths are clearly marked and we got a map.

The park is stunning and we recommend going early - it was almost empty and very serene. We loved it and would have liked to spend more time there!

Excellent trails, very knowledgeable guides, and an amazing biodiversity in a relatively small area where visitors may hike. Also their restaurant is very good and attention as well. They also have days when you may receive a exposition with a video show of the Reserve's history and mission. Your visit actually starts with a friendly greeting by the park's personnel indicating where you can safely park your car and others that sell the entrance tickets and provide you with a map with the trails you can choose from. In all, a very enjoyable experience.

This park is one of the most famous place in Costa Rica. Under a constant tropical weather, it is so humid that that i feel that it rain constantly. A jacket or pancho is highly recommanded. I did not take a guide tour and i regretted it. With a guide you could see a lot of animals that alone you could not see it. Great place to go. The whole trail could take 2h30 if you walk fast.

This was an easy hike. It only took me an 1.5 hours as I was alone. I was lucky as it wasn’t very rainy but it would be smart to wear a rain jacket. I was disappointed not to birds and other animals but it was a nice attraction.

We did guided tour to Monteverde Cloud Forest. Our guide was very knowledgeable and nice guy. We were able to spot Tucan and few other animals. We learned a lot about this cloud forest. If you like to check out forests; highly recommended to take this tour.

Monteverde is a beautiful place. The fact that you're in the middle of a tropical cloud forest is amazing. If you're in a correct place and you're lucky, you can see the Pacific ocean and from a place called "The Window" in the reserve you can see the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. The weather as expected in a cloud forest is unpredictable, there are high chances to rain at any hour of the day.
This place is focused on tourism, it means that it will be expensive. You'll find a lot of restaurants and hotels.
To get there you'll need a big car or a lot of patience to get there, because of the roads.
I visited the Reserve and you have to be prepared to walk a lot. I recommend to start early in the morning and if you have the chance pay for a guide, do it; they are trained to see things that you probably won't see.
You can do a lot of things like canopy, tree climbing, night walks, etc.
Monteverde, is one of the most beautiful places I've ever be, if you're in Costa Rica this is a must.

Wonderful hike. We were lucky to have gotten a true feeling of being in the clouds at the continental divide. We did not get a guide and it was just fine. Got to see a few different types of birds, and many butterflies as well. I strongly recommend you also go to Colibri Cafe afterwards.

Beautiful jungly forests with many birds. I saw a tapir and that was exciting. There are a variety of flora & fauna. So exciting to be co-existing in the Cloud Forest with the animals.. Local people are nice and make good food! There's some very small villages along the way.

Beautiful park with well maintained trails and a stunning example of primary cloud forest.
Sadly large coach trips also visit this park, and if you're unlucky enough to start a trail in the vicinity of one good luck spotting anything! Seriously, large groups should be told (if it's not already obvious) to shut their mouth and open their eyes.
Good facilities, excellent trails and friendly staff. Comes highly recommended.

Beautiful cloud forest. It was raining, but our basic ponchos did the job. If you come here, you have to go through one of the cloud forests. The recommended hike that we took was 2 hours long and had quite a bit of up and down stairs.

Great , not too strenuous hike with great view points. Perfect for kids and familys. But also fun for everyone else. During the day mostly see only birds animals come out at night.

Awesome awesome place. There are 10 bridges at varying heights of within the park. You really feel like you are submerged within the misty hug of the cloud. It's very wet and rainy so wear a poncho. Also loved the hummingbird reserve at the base of the mountain. Spent so much time with 14 species of hummingbird. No regrets.

The cloud forest is a magical place unlike any other. It's preserved for now, but who knows what climate change will do to it. You need a local guide to explain what you are seeing.

Extremely beautiful and active park, IF you arrive early and with a guide. I cannot stress the necessity of a guide, unless you are very familiar with CR animals habits and preferred living locations. Even with some knowledge the guide was able to point out birds and animals I never realized were there. Some within arms reach. Last, go clear to the back of the park down the right side (per the map, black path). You will come to an intersection with picnic tables and benches. Right takes you to a nice observation platform for the Continental Divide. Also, go forward here into the area marked no admission down a little hill. About 1-200 yrds down is the actual no admission area blocked by a gate and on the right is a picnic table. The views of the clouds streaming up the mountainsides from this table are amazing, and the only place in the park we were actually visibly IN clouds.
