Really nice place with a great and friendly owner and an even friendlier dog.
Breakfast is sensational and the house owned Trail is good for a walk in the afternoon. The garden is really nice and you can either chill in an hammock or sit on the veranda.

    My absolute recommendation

Lovely hotel with beautiful grounds. All of the staff are extremely helpful and will assist with booking tours, getting around and finding the best restaurants in near by Santa Elena.

What a beautiful oasis in monteverde. Everything was just great everyone ready to help. Jenny was so sweet everyone there is. Was able to experience a dinner with Carlos and his wife cooking so delicious. Not big seafood fan but was best food I had in monteverde. We loved our stay everyone should be so lucky to get to stay here you will not regret it

While we did not stay at Casa Batsu, we booked our transportation/shared shuttle through them. They offered competitive prices and were easy, accessible and helpful to communicate with throughout the booking process and accomodated date and location changes.

Great little place just outside of Monteverde. Family run place where they seem to genuinely care that you enjoy your stay. One of the top highlights for my trip to CR.

Carlos was an excellent host! I felt like I was being greeted at a 5 star hotel but Carlos made it more personal and friendly. I could list many things that I was impressed by but don't want to take the fun of the experience away from those that are able to stay a Casa Batsu. What I can say is you wont be disappointed, I cant imagine there being a better place to stay in the area. Carlos, I'd come back to Monteverde just to visit! You really made the experience top notch! Thank you again for your great hospitality!

We chose to stay at Casa Batsu during our time in Monteverde because it was highly recommended by friends who stayed there over a year ago. Carlos and his brother Alejandro were very warm and hospitable hosts, and we would definitely stay there if we were to visit Monteverde again. This place is very highly rated on TripAdvisor, but I'll share my experience here on Google.

The best way that I could describe our stay was that we were treated as visiting friends or relatives. He shared his typical dinner with us (which I appreciated, because Costa Rican serving sizes are a bit smaller than I'm used to in the states, so a second dinner helped me not go hungry!) He also shared a bottle of wine with us and another couple staying there while we watched the sun set from his property. The dinner and wine were both on the house. Carlos also helped us decide and then did all of the booking for our transportation and activities.

Casa Batsu is located just outside of town, and typical taxi fare was between 1000 and 1500c (2-3 US dollars) so that was convenient. The sunset view as mentioned before was beautiful.

A slightly relevant warning/recommendation if you're planning to do activities in the area such as ziplining is to bring something warm and waterproof! Carlos warned us about the unpredictable weather and was able to lend my wife a rainjacket. I did not pack such an item and attempting to zipline through a sudden rainstorm while wearing a t-shirt and shorts is not a pleasant experience. We bailed on that after 2/9 ziplines because I did not want to get pneumonia.
