Lovely place to be! Family owned business with modern, brand new rooms. Breakfast and lunch are home made/fresh and included in the packages. It is a short walk to the beach. Marieke and Jared were super helpful with everything I needed. It felt like home to me after only 3 days.
Jared is a great surfing teacher and even I was scared I learnt the basics and it was great fun! Couldn’t have picked a better place in playa santa Teresa.

I researched a number of surf camps along the Costa Rican Pacific coast for a friend and myself. We settled on Lucero Surf Retreats given the location of a more scenic/natural environment in Santa Teresa, previous positive reviews of Lucero, the "vibe" from their website, and most importantly the ease in working with Marieke and Jared who took care of all aspects of our trip and surf camp activities. They certainly did not disappoint in providing an excellent surfing experience.
Lucero Surf Retreats has a policy of only two people per each certified instructor, which provides for an awesome amount of personal attention and feedback by each instructor for his or her students.I was able to get up on the board initially for a short run the first day, and then steadily progressed through out the week to more consistent pop-ups and longer runs. Most importantly, I left with a good foundation to practice/surf on my own for future growth in the sport.
I am extremely happy that I choose Lucero Surf Retreats to help complete surfing on my bucket list. Marieke and Jared are so kind and generous and went above and beyond all expectations to make this the perfect holiday and surf camp experience.
