Jacamar transportation is the best experience I have ever had on a vacation. All of the drivers were extremely knowledgeable in the areas, they were on time for every transfer, they were so friendly and spoke really good English, and were very trustworthy. I would recommend them to anyone traveling in Costa Rica that doesn't want to deal with your own transportation. We had the best experience with Fernand! He picked us up from the airport, made stops along the way to our resort, taught us a ton about the Costa Rica culture, and made the drive fly by. I felt extremely safe in all Jacamar's transfers and would use them when I go back!

We went on the combination tour with Jairo and we couldn't have been more pleased. We were hesitant about the price, but it was DEFINITELY worth it. After we added up the admission fees to the various locations (even the free national park) and figured in transportation and lunch, we paid next to nothing for the most valuable part of the whole experience: a knowledgeable tour guide. We would have missed SO much without him.

Our hotel had misinformed us about breakfast time, so I was hungry and cranky when Jairo, Oscar (our group was split into two for the first tour and he was the other guide), and Carlos (the driver) arrived bright and early, but Jairo was friendly from the beginning- without coddling me or being insincere.
It was a very long day- hanging bridges tour, waterfall (500 steps down and then back up), lunch on a farm, Arenal Volcano hike, and ended with Baldi Hot Springs, but we'd do it 100 times over.
Jairo was INCREDIBLY knowledgeable and knew the answers to almost everything we asked. I am a schoolteacher and I honestly think I should get reimbursed for this trip just based on the amount I learned from him.
If you go to Costa Rica, tour with this company, and if you can request a guide, ask for Jairo! (Though, after reading the other reviews, I think there are many incredible guides.)

We had the most amazing time with Jacamar tours! Day 1 we did a combination with hanging bridges, La Fortuna waterfall, and Arenal Volcano hike. Julio and Alonzo were fantastic guides! Very knowledgeable and super friendly. The Jacamar Farm hosted a delicious lunch as well.
Day 2 we went kayaking on Lake Arenal with Davíd. It ended up being just myself and my husband on the tour and what a great experience! Again, we learned so much and were well taken care of when the winds got too strong and were not able to make it back to shore by kayak.
We would not hesitate to book with them again and would strongly recommend to anyone planning a trip!!!

Fauricio was our guide and happy to say not one of us went overboard unlike the other 2 rafts with us. He was great and pointed out sloths and gave a lot of information and history about costa rica. Lunch at the farm was great and the people there were friendly.

We had a fantastic time, and went with Jacamar for 3 tours: the combination tour (Arenal Hanging bridges, La Fortuna waterfall, Arenal volcano hike & Tabacon hot springs) with Santos; the safari river float with Roberto and Francisco (Frank); and the Rio Celeste hike with Francisco (Frank). Loved all three - felt we got our money's worth, and the guides were amazing (incredibly educated - they know everything!). Santos, Frank and Roberto are all recommended. The Rio Celeste hike was not as challenging as I thought from the description (has nothing on The Chief in Squamish, BC or the Grouse Grind), but totally worthwhile and enjoyable! Wear Keens or other water shoes for fording the waterfall base (tricky while barefoot!). For the hanging bridges, expect your camera gear to get a little damp (even on a nice day) due to humidity (and bring a rain poncho). The safari float in the boat (not the kayaks) would be great for rugged Canadian kids, as would the hanging bridges (note that there are crocodiles and venomous snakes, however!). The Arenal volcano hike is the least impressive on its own (though the guides give great commentary), but a welcome component to the combination package (which was a fantastic way to spend a VERY full day!).
