It's not that bad a climb. It's very rocky to get to the water, and the water is very cold. Lots of selfies going on. Absolutely gorgeous.

Beautiful waterfall. Came here on my own. Takes about 10 minutes of walking down some stairs to get to the falls. Once there you are free to jump in the water. To be honest, no guide is needed for this. Pretty straight forward

Beautiful waterfall! The walk down was easy, but needed a few breaks on the long walk back up! The entire trail down in a series of stairs, well maintained, and not hazardous at all. There are places to stop along the way back up and rest. There is a calm area beside the waterfall great for kids. The water is strong and cold at the base of the waterfall, but definitely a fun experience!

It was an amazing place with a great hike in and out. There are some good places to swim just around the corner from the base of the waterfall. Bring some water because it's up 500 steps to get back to the top!

Beautiful location here and a great little restaurant too. First on the restaurant, it was one of the best meals we had in Fortuna and reasonably priced.

Admission is $15 per person which is a little steep to see a waterfall.
Also steep.
The climb.
500 stairs down might not sound like much, but if you haven't been on the stairmaster for weeks in end, this is going to present a challenge.
The lagoon is nice and it is a beautiful waterfall, but -1 star for the price

Beautiful waterfall and it's really cool that you can swim in the waters. I don't recommend swimming in the waters right below as they are extremely choppy and you spend most of your time just getting tossed around. Rather, swim in the waters slightly downstream which are calmer and missing most of the big rocks! There are lots of friendly fish and it's nice and sandy. Heads up, you have to go down hundreds of stairs to get down which in turn means you have to climb hundreds to get back up. But not to worry, they have plenty of encouraging signs on the way up to motivate your ascent.

The orchid garden there is well worth a visit too.

Amazing water fall, totally worth the hike/drive/taxi. How often do you get to swim in the base of a waterfall? Amazing experience, can't recommend enough. The only thing I would say is not to get food here, exit the park and walk five minutes down hill to Geckos. Super cheap and tasty as heck!

Nice little park. There is a beautiful butterfly and orchid garden. The falls are cool to look at but you can’t swim by them for safety reasons. The swimming area is gorgeous! Lovely scenery and definitely worth the $14 USD entry fee. You have to go down quite a few flights of stairs to get to the bottom and climbing up can be rough but there are plenty of rest benches on the way.

The waterfall was extremely beautiful. The infrastructure surrounding it was also great in that the waterfall was not over-commercialised but still great for tourists.
The descent and ascent to the waterfall was not too difficult even for beginners. The tourist shop was also brilliant with friendly staff all-round who were also very helpful.
Overall, a great experience.

Awesome place to spend 2-3 hours of your day in La Fortuna. Well worth the $15 fee. A short 500 step hike down to the waterfall and once you are there you can take a dip in the cool waters of the waterfall. We also saw a monkey on our hike back up. Overall amazing experience.

Weather was like 200%humidity and steep steps down. Wear shows with good traction and hold on tothe rail. Also if you're getting all the way down there bring your swim gear! We forgot and were so bummed but also didn't wanna go back up and down.

Amazing place. The nature here is beautiful. Be aware that for going down to the waterfall, you will have to walk down many steps. That isn't so bad, getting back up is the real workout. I wouldn't say it is suitable for someone with health issues. It is totally worth the many stairs though! Do take a swim in the (some what cold) water. It will freshen you up!

Great natural adventure at this waterfall. My daughter (13) and I (43) went there this past July when we were staying in La Fortuna. It was one of our most memorable parts of our stay there. The 500 steps down (and back up) from the waterfall are well worth it. Although the steps are well designed with lots of railings for safety, people with significant mobility issues might be challenged to climb down and back up.

Beautiful and amazing natural treasure!!! It is well worth the price of the admission!!! The waterfall is breathtakingly beautiful and fresh!!! The spray feels exhilarating!!! It is cold at first but you will adjust to the temperature quickly. The 500 stair steps along with path makes for an excellent cardio workout!!! Especially on the return trip back to the top. The roaring of the waterfall is like a melody. It is definitely a great treat for the whole family. Go in to the river around the corner and see lots of fish. Once you have reached the top again, check out the orchid trail and butterfly trail. There is lots of beautiful plants and flowers. You'll see plenty of beautiful butterflies and som gorgeous hummingbirds. Such a great natural beauty!!!

Beautiful waterfall. One of the best attractions in La Fortuna. Best to visit it early in the morning, specifically on weekends as it gets crowded later.

Absolutely gorgeous! In off "green" season the place was still crowded. I couldn't imagine visiting this attraction during it's peak. Beware of the 500+ stairs down to the waterfall Coming back up is a workout for sure.

An amazing place you need to see! Kids are free. They take credit and adults are $15. Try to go early as it gets crowded later in day. Easy stair hike down and up. Saw howler monkeys and lots of bird, hummingbird and butterfly species. Nice gift shop.

If you are anywhere nearby, this a must. Super easy to reach with no hiking and only some steps. Amazing pool to swim in under the breathtaking falls.

If you wanted to show someone what makes Costa Rica so fun in less than an hour-and-a-half, the waterfall at La Fortuna is it. The $15 USD entry fee per person is a bit steep, but I'd say it's worth it. My biggest concern was how the kids would handle the return hike back up, but they had absolutely no problems. Great photo opportunities!

We bough t the ticket in our hotel, so we "only" paid 12$. The view is fantastic, we also enjoyed the orchids very much. The price for a waterfall is pretty steep though.
I can only recommend to go there early in the morning - we got there 20 minutes after the opened and there was no one else!

Insanely beautiful, totally worth the $15 per person. Be prepared for some stairs. Bring some good water shoes. You can walk around barefoot if your feet aren't that sensitive but it can get a bit painful walking on rocks in the river. There are also some paths across the river, one leads to a hanging bridge. It was a pretty hike and not that far to the bridge.

This place is like coming out of a movie. When you get at the entrance to this area, you are aware that you'' come across a few minutes later. After you pass the ticket office, you start descending a long set of steps, built on the side of a cliff, covered with lush vegetation. A few minutes later, once you realize that there seems to be no end in sight (for the steps), you start thinking about the way up. Keep going! You will be rewarded with one of the most beautiful scenes once you get to the end of the steps. At the end of the steps, the waterfall lies to your right, while if you go to your left (just a few meters) you can swim in crystal-clear pools that have formed by the flow of the river. These pools are calm (not affected by the falling water) and are crystal-clear. Then, you can follow the river, up-stream, for a few meters and you get to the main lagoon where the water falls into. It's quite magical as you are the the level of the lagoon's water and you have a unique perspective when you look up to the falling water. Enjoy!
