Cant give zero stars or i would. Dont ever come to this place. The staff are rude. Theres no food. Same stuff every day. Paid for all inclusive but can only eat at certain times. Then they closed the food area down for a private party and wouldnt let us get food at all. There is many more reasons not to come here but take my word for it. Go somewhere else. They don't care about the people that pay to come here. No entertainment. The manager just laughs when you complain about something. Very very bad place.

Like any Costa Rica 4star resort, it’s closer to 3 star in N America. For the price we paid through Air Canada vacations, it’s spectacular. It was one of the least expensive All-inclusives that was offered vs Mexico & Cuba. I can be picky and won’t fly anything but business class over 6 hours.
We have an amazing beach front room. Food is good. Very relaxed and chill resort. Room service is great. Ala Carte Reataurant was great food. Beach is amazing. Sand is so fine, it will get churned up at high tide but a great shallow bay for swimming. Low tide gives an extra 80-100m of great beach. We’ve had no problem with service and management except they’ve run out of towels periodically. No biggie. Would highly recommend.

This is a terrible place to stay. I feel they stole our money. We had to leave due to an emergency so they were paid for seven days for nothing. They wouldn’t return phone calls or emails. Aside from that, our room stank of sewer from the toilet and the beach is empty because the water is very sandy. You can’t see your feet when you are walking in the water. DO GO HERE

I really enjoyed my stay at Villas Playa Samara! the staff really took care of us and went above and beyond making our celebrations special. The food is also amazing. Very flavorful and still a lot of variety for a small resort. The best I've had than at all the larger resorts I've visited in the past. The pool is very nice and the property is well kept. Their are wild horses on the beach which is really cool to see. Sunsets are amazing. Though the villas require some update, it did not negatively impact our stay, especially since we spent most of our times outdoors and walking to town/ enjoying excursions. I would definitely recommend this hotel due to how great the staff's made the stay. My biggest tip is to ask for an upgraded room away from the construction.

We booked a "Beach Front Villa" only to find they don't actually have any beach front villas. Beach front to me means you step out of your Villa and onto a Beach. This is what it means where I've stayed in the Bahamas, the BVI, and the USVI, but evidently not at the Villas Playa Samara. The picture they show on their website of the Beach Front Villa is the only one remotely close to the beach. I can see some water from our Villa but I have to walk past about 8 villas closer to the beach to actually hit some sand. You get to enjoy whatever else every other Villa is up to along your way, and the lack of privacy really adds to the trailer park vibe of the place. The condo construction going on right outside our bedroom window is a nice touch. Our three year old may not sleep much but at least he can watch the bulldozers. The three included meals are all buffets. The appliances are beat up and rusty and the windows are all dirty. We asked for a refund so we could go someplace else but obviously they refused. We were tempted to eat the $500/night for 4 nights but decided we'd try to make the best of the situation. Reason for 2 stars instead of one is because the pool is lovely as is the beach. Other than that I would urge you dear traveler to go elsewhere for your stay in Samara, unless you have very low expectations.

Grounds are beautiful, food is good but don't stay in the condo buildings! They are a little crappy and our hot water wouldn't work, then the air conditioning didn't work. The staff was right on it but it still didn't fix the cheapy feeling of the unit.

Amazing place for relaxingfood so so
Rooms should be cleaner beach is gorgeous but they need more chairs on the beach people are very friendly. I would definitely recommend this place for vacation. Also my husband had an accident and we were in a minute at medical center where we experience very very frendly stuff with dr. Freddy.

If you have a tour company that books you here, have them change it because once you pre-pay for the tour you have no leverage when things go sideways. Costa Rica Monkey Tours dumped us here 4 hours before check-in then made us wait in the lobby without ever saying a word. No apologies, no offers of interim accommodation, nothing. This place is understaffed, poor service (probably because of overworked & underpaid employees), out of date, no chairs on the beach, extremely limited food options as an all-inclusive, cheap hard mattresses, no phones, massive construction next door with power tools starting up before 7:00 am, and best of all, they don’t really care if you’re unhappy or uncomfortable. Just don’t stay here. There are a lot of other places in Costa Rica with nicer facilities who will treat you as the paying guest that you are.

Rooms are very nice, the food is decent, the all inclusive option is well worth it.

It was nice to be steps away from the beach. It's a short walk to the town of Samara via the beach. The hotel is expanding so there is construction when you drive in but nothing you see or hear when you're staying.

Has a modern look with a "beachy" feel. Is literally right on the beach, so that is a huge plus! The small town of Samara is a short walk away along the beach and has lots of great shops, restaurants and a coffee shop.

It has a nice pool with a "wet bar," but the bar closes too early at 6 pm. There's another bar I the hotel, but if you want to hang out in the pool, you have to take a short walk for beverages.

All in all, it's a really nice place to stay!

This is a wonderful resort. The staff is friendly and the accommodations are modern and clean. The bar tender Daniel is knowledgeable, helpful and charming to boot. The resort is right on the beach and within a 10 minute drive to town. The gym could use some upgrades but all in all I highly recommend this resort.

We had a great time. before visiting I checked reviews there were lots of good reviews but some with bad ones so I was expecting ok service and food. But right from the reception I found out many visitors were just being too picky. the place is actually very clean, food is pretty good and specially there are variety, most of all the people who work there are extremely polite and service oriented. Always smiling and attentive , never say no. The manager was also good person and friendly. So I highly recommend this resort.

Relaxing family friendly resort with beautiful little villas and gardens with mango trees, iguanas and even monkeys. Food is delicious as it is fresh and sorted locally. Rooms are clean and spacious and they are so close to the ocean that you can hear the waves as you fall asleep. Staff is friendly and attentive and work hard to make everyone happy. Plenty of things to do around the area including surfing, kayaking, watching dolphins or reading a good book by the beach. Water shoes are recommended for the hotel beach.

Beautiful place, service has been great only drawback would be the beach has a lot of jagged coral so best to wear swim shoes.

Located about two and half hours from Liberia International. Airport. The facilities are well kept a Nd very clean in light of the ongoing expansion construction. Beach easily accessible and view is fantastic. Staff appears to be very professional and pleasant. Did not stay at Hotel but visited one of the villa which was roomy and clean and associated facilities are fully equipped. Cannot comment on restaurant food.

Buffet limited and the same every night. Pool is dirty. Service is non existent. Only half the Villa had AC and my kids beds were couches (actually thin cushions on concrete) Save your money and stay at a hotel in town and take advantage of the great local restaurants. I can't tell if this place is new and trying to figure it out or if it's just simply going out of business Or both!

Resort was beautiful. Buildings and grounds very well maintained. Direct access to the beach. The staff was excellent. Very friendly and accommodating.

The reason for three stars is the food was good, it did not shine, and on site entertainment was meager, but the tour company on site was fantastic.
