Nice hotel near Santa Elena. The common areas are cute and the pool is great. The actual room we stayed in was okay - it looked a little run down. There is no AC. There was a screen to the door on the balcony and a little screen next to the door to our room. However, there was also a window inside the shower that did NOT have a screen which sort of defeats the purpose of having screens elsewhere. Our room was outdoor from both sides. The breakfast was really good!
Loved it. Great view of the valley and the fresh wind all through the day and night was so soothing. Great breakfast with fresh natural fruits and vegetables locally sourced.
The poco a poco hotel is a jewel in Monteverde. It's possible the top hotel to stay. We stay for two nights and everyone was great, one night we had dinner at the restaurant in the hotel we had a great experience there Alexander our waiter was outstanding!!! I would totally book again.
A great place, one of the nicer ones we stayed in. Not all personnel was friendly though and for the number of people they accommodate there isn't nearly enough parking space. The continental breakfast was very good but the local dishes were not as good as the other places we visited. But in general it was a very pleasant stay at a central location.
Good location close to the local town. Friendly staff and a nice jacuzzi with drink service. The pool was not that inviting and the bar in the pool was not open.
Beautiful views. Great rooms. Pool and Jacuzzi. Excellent service.
Descent hotel with friendly stuff. Great location. with a beautiful garden. A few downside points: no fridge and low to no internet connection in the room. Liked it overall. Would definitely come back.
Comfortable rooms. Nice restaurant. We stayed in one of the older buildings, but it had an updated bathroom. Handy location on the edge of town but still within walking distance to all of the restaurants and shopping and just across the street from a supermarket, restaurants and pharmacy. The only complaint was the hot tub was not very hot, but that seems to be the norm in Costa Rica.
Cute boutique hotel- close to town for some exploring. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would have liked some more amenities in the room itself.
Online showed an $86 rate. Upon arrival quoted $145. Very small dated room, pool broken, lots of road noise and dogs barking all night. Cancelled our second night and booked an AirB&B at La Guayaba and we are thrilled with the hospitality and quality at La Guayaba.
Great place to stay, close to the main area of the city! Rooms were spacious and nice.
Great service, amazing pool and nice rooms
Beautiful place in the mountains. It's worth the adventure of getting there. Staff very responsive. Close to town. Clean.
To comment on what others have said, travelers here should know that Monteverde is an extremely tiny town. "Four stars" here is not (nor should be expected to be) the equivalent to four stars in America. That being said, this hotel is clean, spacious, and the service is friendly. It's a perfectly fine place to stay.
This hotel is awesome for Monteverde, if you're expecting American standard, you will be disappointed. Our room had mildly warm water and after speaking with front desk multiple times, finally got switched to another room with HOT water and better pressure. Staff has been very kind. It is SO windy here, don't have even think about being here without a wind breaker of some sort. Location good, 2-5 minute walk to downtown and grocery store. Free movies at front desk (in English). Free breakfast, not just continental. Laundry service, hot tub and coffee in the room. Overall, not bad.
3 Stars?
As with most pictures are better than reality. By American standards: around the same as Motel 8 add a restaurant and spa; outdated plexiglass is stained and clouded; minor items needing minor repairs throughout. Lobby is undergoing remodel but didn't affect stay at all. Be aware there is no AC and as with many central american hotels you cant flush TP etc. Also, walls are thin but insulation is not needed here. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Restaurant is good, as is the complimentary breakfast with 4 plate choices and cooked to order. Was on site mid-january so evenings were too cool for pool and wet bar not open. Evening and overnight winds blew at 30+ mph. and took a minute to get used to sound. Personally, found it relaxing. Hot tub was hot and both pool and tub were clean. For rural central america this is an upper middle establishment and I would recommend it.
Lovely setting with a nice pool/jacuzzi area. Zero sound proofing in rooms with super echo-y halls! I think our room (29) was perhaps the worst with our bathroom windows opening to the hall and utility room. We could hear every word and movement! We had to close the bathroom door and put towels under the door, AND run the TV just to be able to sleep. Also got badly bit by mosquitoes while sleeping. Not what I would expect for the price in Costa Rica.
Food was excellent. Staff was very helpful. Views and garden area fascinating.
