We will visit again, great ambiance, clean nice rooms, a.c., beautiful grounds, yoga or exercise area, close to town..but not too close ☺😊😁

Beautiful and clean rooms, well tended landscaping and pool, area for yoga, complimentary gallo pinto or pancakes for breakfast. The owner is very nice. Walking distance to tree of life and playa negra. I think you can also rent bikes here.

Yoga sessions in the specially constructed area in the tropical garden are a real treat. Stretching to the sounds of howler monkeys, birds and the waves to start or end the day relaxed and in tune with nature. Johanna is a helpful and knowledgeable teacher and Sunny is a welcoming host. Highly recommended whether you stay in one of the beautiful rooms or not.

Waking up in the middle of a tropical paradise every morning during our stay at the Magellan was nothing short of amazing.
Situated conveniently to the beach and some of the best bars and restaurants on the Caribbean, the Magellan offers a unique and authentic experience while providing all of the perks and amenities that one would want while traveling. It’s spotless and the owner and staff are all extremely welcoming and helpful.
We spent our mornings dining on the delicious breakfast served daily, laying by the refreshing pool and doing yoga in the tranquil outdoor yoga studio. Our days and nights were spent exploring all that Cahuita has to offer, including excellent bars and restaurants and exciting excursions. Sunny was especially helpful with giving us the best advice on where to go, what to do and how to do it!
This hotel’s setting is a true oasis that is wild and gorgeous, yet comforting, with an array of colorful and wild species of plants and animals all around. Don’t be surprised to see a sloth hanging from the tree outside of your room!
Our departure from the Magellan was bitter sweet but I plan on returning as the Magellan feels like my new home away from home and the place I will long for, for a very long time.response / report this review -

This hotel is beautiful! The place is wonderful, they really have done a great job! They owners are really nice and they really want you to have a great time! It's nicely located a little far away from the center to be very calm but not that far away that you cannot walk of you wanted to!

What a beautiful place! The Magellan is located only two or three minutes walking to the black sand beaches of Playa Negra. It is a small and comfortable property with a beautiful garden, the deepest salt water pool in Cahuita, and clean and comfortable rooms with AC units installed in the rooms. The rooms have recently been renovated by the new management - as well as the pool and grounds. The effect is spectacular, it is obviously a well cared for and loved place!
The magellan inn includes breakfast in the price of the stay - they prepare fresh fruit (papaya, pineapple, and watermelon) with juice and then a selection of Gallo pinto, on omelette, or pancakes. Very delicious! They are also experimenting with opening a restaurant - they had their 'soft' opening during our stay. I had the most amazing tropical chicken burger (teriyaki glazed with fresh pineapple, um yes please!). Tours are offered, but for the most part we stayed in, hanging with the management and going to the beach! I have decided to hold my wedding at the Magellan in October and the owners, Sunny and Ernie, are helping me plan it out and coordinating with local services to get me the best price and make it go smoothly! Older but well-kept place with 6 rooms. Basic necessities and the only thing I didn't like was the step down shower right next to the toilet which one of our friends tripped in to.response / report this review
