We visited in the low season. Nice little hotel in the Nicoya Bay. Located right near the merging of a river and the ocean. We experienced a rainy day in our ocean view suite. Saw the muddy rain water sip into the little bay changing the color of the ocean all day. By next morning, the ocean color was back to normal. They do have an area with an outstanding ocean view that is seemingly full of fun in the high season which is their dry season or summer as they call it. But in September i I experienced a laid back atmosphere with great service. Staff was there to attend to our needs yet otherwise "invisible". The place seems to be designed to allow the customer to enjoy the place and the views with a feel of solace and just be relaxed.

BED BUGS BEWARE!! I hated this hotel! We bought a Groupon and this hotel was included with a 3 night stay. We immediately called Groupon and complained to management since the room was infested with bed bugs, dirty, ants covered the floor, moldy walls and there were no windows. Management removed and replaced the bed bug mattresses. Also, there is NO WIFI in the rooms only at the main office.
The only redeeming quality of this hotel is the view and it had air conditioning. I could not wait to go home!response / report this review -

Beautiful view and great location to access Puerto Carrillo Playa. Rooms are typical Costa Rica, very plain but great a/c and the showers are big with hot water (rare in this part of Costa Rica). Pool and restaurant are nice as well, everywhere here has a great view. As a picky american I would stay here again.

Food was great, service was awesome, pool is unparalleled! Overall I think it is one of the top hotels in the Samara area, if not the bestnot to mention the best view in the area.

Wonderful experience at the guanamar hotel! The view of the beach and ocean from the balcony, pool, and walkways are breathtaking. The food makes you savor every bite! Thanks guanamar for an unforgettable trip! Definitely try out the activities at the hotel they offer. The dolphin tour was fantastic! We were gone for over 3 hours and saw so many dolphins. At the end we even got to snorkel. Our room was always clean and close to our car to drive up to town which was only 10 min away. If your looking for some time at a pool and the beach with a town near by this is the place.

Breath taking views of the Puerto Carillo bay and sunsets from pool deck and restaurant area. Our room balcony also had an excellent view of the bay. My room was a bit dated, with a chipped sink and peeling paint. Otherwise good experiencefriendly staff.
