We took the Rio Frio wildlife boat tour with Gary as our main guide and Jason as a guide in training. They were fantasticreally knew where to find the birds (we're really into birds). Also other wildlife like the Jesus Christ lizard which "walks on water", many groups of howler monkeys (congos in Spanish), and a sloth. Did I mention the birds? We added several new species to our life list this daydespite being in Costa Rica before. Loved it!

Each time the wildlife was visible, they tried to stop the boat and move close to get a good view. This was great. Many of the creatures were seen really up close and personal. They weren't just black dots on the horizon. We saw many up close and personal (of course, with our binocularsI'd always recommend binoculars for this kind of trip).

Exceptional guideshighly recommended!

Details:
Cost was $40/ per person for a 2 hr tour. (Ours was closer to 2.5 hr). They do prefer cash. We drove there in our rental car and parked outside the restaurant. If you need it, their English is extremely goodespecially Gary's. They also know the names of all the animals in English.
