Really enjoyed our 3 days at the Green Lagoon Resort! The people are all very friendly and the breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend the hike to Cerro Chato which starts at the Green Lagoon. (Note that the hike is technically closed to the public but everyone seems to go around the blockade). That hike was on the harder side but definitely one of the highlights of our trip!

The location and consequently the view were outstanding. The food was unique, made using with ingredients they harvest in the property, and the attention in the restaurant was incredible too, much like we found everywhere in CR. That is why I give them two stars, and I am pushing it

The room had so many issues:
1) It was NOT clean (the shelves behind the bed and the floor being the two prime examples, although there was a distinct broom and other cleaning utensils sticking out of a vase by the door).
2) The space was super-dark and unwelcoming, accentuated by the dark brown-painted bamboo covered walls, and illuminated all over using white fluorescent lamps. Just changing the bulbs to non-white bulbs would make a huge difference.
3) The curtain rods were hanging by a "thread". When I opened one of the curtains , the wooden rod and curtain fell on me, and hit me in the arm.
4) The property as a whole looked not cared for properly: cracked stairs, terrible signage, poor lighting outside the rooms

And for this we paid over $200 for one night? Give me a break! Either they get their act together, or gradually they will lose more business. There's too many great options in the area at that price point.

Came here for the green Lagoon hike. It's a strenuous hike and it requires a lot of strength and stamina, but it was one of the best.

Hotel is somewhat run down outside but OK overall and in particular inside the hotel everything is acceptable. Furniture and build felt a bit underwhelming in the room, but we had a comfortable stay. Breakfast was very poor. Outside the access to the hotel is difficult (although definitely feasible at low speed) as there is no tarmac on the final 500m on the road to get to the hotel. Swimming pool area needs resurfacing as terrain has moved and cracked the cement on the floor in places. Fresh paint would help too. Beside the hotel, they have some provate villas that looked very nice from the outside.

I really enjoyed my stay. The food was fresh from the garden.and seasoned well. It's a great retreat. No phones or TV. They have WiFi. And there are activities to do. The people at the front desk will schedule everything for you. They need 24 hour notice. The drive to the place was very challenging. The road have sharp curves around mountain. But the view is beautiful. It is a great place to hike and enjoy nature. I would recommend this place. Just drive safely.

Great quiet healthy minded hotel. Out of the way but 1/2 mile from the waterfall. Many birds for photos and flowers for admiring. Up in the clouds at the foot of Cerra Chatoa dormant volcano.

Remote and very quite area location near La Fortuna and Arenal Volcano but we got the upgrade and the breakfast and staff service was amazing.
The rooms and bathrooms could use the upgrade and the lighting were quite dim that's why they are loosing one star.

Locayed outside of La Fortuna, in the center of a rain forest, on a hill with beautiful view on La Fortuna - exellent combination with the nature around it and comfortable hotel.

I've been here two nights and I already love it. The landscape around the resort is beautiful, they have a hiking trail that takes you to a wonderful picnic area over looking the valley. When there's no cloud cover you can see the volcano near by. And all of the staff are very friendly and helpful, and thankfully most speak english. I would definetly recommend it.

Great location right by the waterfall. Quiet place with a great view from the pool/bar area. Stayed in a standard 'triple' room for 3 nights-soundproofing between these rooms isnt great, but we still enjoyed the stay very much. Hot water and AC work great. Nothing fancy but staff is super helpful. Bang for the buck is great.

This is in a gorgeous, peaceful area. The romantic bungalow style rooms are AMAZING. The superior room we had by the pool was quaint and clean. The staff is friendly and you can hike the Cerro Chato volcano for free (If you dare!) The view of the Arenal from the top is worth it!

Stayed 2 nights here, really enjoyed our stay. Room was nice, staff is helpful. Its not a big resort, its not super fancy, but it is cute and quaint. Comfortable but not flashy. We liked the free breakfast, and the hot tub was relaxing. And the view.gorgeous!!

12$ for the hike to Cerro Chato is a total rip off! The trail is totally unmaintained. It was not possible to go down to the Laguna of Cherro Chato because the trail was too steep and slippery. Asking the clerk for the reasoning behind this ridiculous price I got the answer "it's private property, we take what we want".
Tourists come and pay anyway so why change the pricing?
