Booking: online on the enterprise Costa Rica site. Did not go through an agency like Expedia or Hotwire as at the time enterprise had a 25 % off promo of you booked through their site directly. Make sure you check on the dealer websites on top of the aggregate sites for any promos. Got a quote that I thought was kind of low and called the number directly to confirm. The quote on their system was 10$ more then what I was quoted which was fine, didn't want any surprises for when I arrived.
Recieving car: So this location serves rentals from the airport. Their is a shuttle bus that will take you straight there. We booked our rental for the day after we arrived, so we had help to get back into the secure area with a security officer. Upon arrival, out attendant gave us the rundown of insurance options on top of the minimum which is what i booked. He was very transparent with the options, wasn't pushy on making us pick upgrades and explained charges we would be getting on our credit card, which included the price of the rental plus a 1000 dollar deposit to be refunded when the car was returned. He recommended we book an SUV instead of a sedan given our itinerary. We declined, but when we were brought to our vehicle we got a free upgrade to an SUV!
The car: we got a daihatsu terios. Its seems to be a very small SUV with only 1.7 L engine. It struggled going up the steep hills of Costa Rica. I recommend going for one of the more powerful SUVs if you are going to be driving in the country side. There is often times where you will need to pass slow trucks on the 2 lane highways, and this thing will barely pick up speed when you give it full gas on a hill, even when you change to the lower gears. It was running fine otherwise, and helped a lot when we hit bumpy gravel roads.
Return. Our receiving manager was one of the best car rental interactions Ive ever had. Very friendly and hospitable. He made sure we left nothing behind, took care of garbage we had, and took our feedback on the experience. Man deserves a promotion to branch manager.
I will for sure be renting with enterprise on my next trip to CR. Great experience. I was very scared of what would happen based on the horror stories I've read in the TripAdvisor and Reddit forums, but it was nothing like what other described. Amazing service, prices were nearly the same as what I was quoted. No surprises. We were very well taken care of. The branch is actually open 24 hrs. We didn't need to call in, but if we did there would be someone there to take care of you. Try out this location if it's your first time to Costa rica, you will be in good hands.
Our reservation in san jose costa rica was for 1:30pm, the van got us to the rental car office , they said they had no cars. Its now 4pm and still nothing! Awful treatment of customers.
Good customer service and quick check in and out. The truck rented needed a serious alignment. Overall a good experience.
Kind of confused as to why this place has gotten every start but 5. I shall start the process..This rental car agency was great. They were respectful, fast, courteous, and provided unexpected services. We were taken to our hotel for free. Absolutely no complaints about our experience with Enterprise.
Easy to check in, but took over an hour to get the car from the “car wash”
Also the shuttle is very infrequent
Gut
La atención al cliente es buena pero son un poco lentos en entregar el vehículo
