Hello everyone ! I have bad experience with Economy I would like to share with you. In mid February I went to Economy in playas del coco and made a reservation for a car from 21.02 to 26.02 for the price of 435$ (price is that high because of the high season I guess and there are almost no free cars in any rental company at this time). So on 21st when I went to take the car , suddenly the price had changed to 460$ even though I had my reservation. The explanation was something like : "when I log in into the system with my work ID , this is the price I get, maybe my partner the other day could get you better price" I wonder how it didn`t happen the opposite way : to get a better price by logging in with different work ID. Anyway since it is the high season and there is no other option , you just take this offer (that`s the whole thing about). When I checked the car fuel , it was half full (6 out of the 12 lines were empty). In the documents the lady K. Romero put 5/8 and before I sign , I asked why it says 5/8 and not 4/8 for half full tank. I was told this is their way of symbolizing half empty tank. So I signed. On my return in San Jose , the guy that checked the car told me 5/8 is more than half full and took a calculator to divide 5 by 8 and told me I need to return the car with 62.5% full tank hahaha. I tried to explain to him what I was told in Playas del coco office and he kept telling me this is what he knows and I am not right. After all I found out I was charged about 15$ for that situation. Today when I went to ask in Playas del coco office about assistance, I was told again 5/8 means half tank and the very same lady told me she put that sign every time the tank is halved. She spoke on the phone with someone and gave me the number of a guy named Enrique Alfaro (I suppose her partner from SJ office) telling me to keep the correspondation with him since she can`t do much. When I called him , he explained to me 5/8 is more than half and 4/8 is exactly half. So I went back to the office and called him again giving her the phone to talk to him. So she explained him the way she puts the symbol 5/8 for half full tank (apparently if someone did a mistake , that`s her especially after reassuring me 5/8 means half full before I signed the documents). After a while I got my phone back and Enrique explained to me that it`s my fault since I signed the paper saying 5/8 instead of 4/8 and without showing them a picture of the tank of that day , they won`t give me back anything.
So after all even if I don`t manage to get any money back , I will be more than happy to ruin Economy rent a car image in any situation possible. You guys should go to prison for scamming customers and taking advantage with your dirty little tricks. It`s no surprise your overall rating in google is 1.8/5 and YES 1.8/5 is not even halfway to 5!response / report this review -

Completely overpriced and upon return we were charged 300 dollars for a scratch on the bumper that they said needed to be replaced. When we asked for the vin number they would not give it to us. Will never rent from them again.

On the last day of our rental agreement, we went into the rental office at Reserva Conchal and asked what time we had to return our car. The man behind the desk found our agreement in his file and told us it was due back before close that day. When we went to return the car before close, he charged us an extra day on top of our 10 day contract, telling us we should have had the car back at 10:30am. That morning he led us to believe we had the rest of the day. It was a BLATANT SCAM AND LIE. There was also no time recorded on our contract. It reads: 30/03 with NO TIME listed. Give them your business at your own discretion.

Please like my review if you found it helpful. its a car rental place like any other However the guys that work there are really nice. Use orbitz and book online in advance it is much cheaper. If you have collision ins with your credit catd company they will want written proof. Ask your cc to send you the letter via email. You can print it at the car rental place. Just forward it to them. Otherwise you are obliged to get the collision ins as well which is 15$ a day plus the mandatory gouv. Ins.

I have been a loyal user of economy rent a car since arriving in CR 1 year ago. Ricardo has been my go to person and he has always made my transactions extremely easy and is super fast to respond to any challenges that I have had over the year. I would highly recommend them over any of the other agencies, best service and best value.

Ricardo is the best! Right from the start he gave me all the information I needed, answered all my questions clearly and quickly, dropped the car off to me in person. It was a great experience, I look forward to dealing with him again!

My wife and I stayed at The Palms at Playa Flamingo at the beginning of July, 2016. We decided we were going to need a car and the administration of the resort put us in touch with Ricardo Rodriguez. I let him know what we needed (SUV size), and he drove the car to us. Now: Ricardo offer us two options: GPS connection or Internet connection. He advised us that the Internet would give us the best bang for our buck since we could connect our cells, use our Google maps and have internet connection at the same time.
The process was painless. We told Ricardo we wanted a good deal with full protection so we wouldn't have to worry about a thing. He did his magic and we got a car for the next 7 days. We drove all over the place, on all sort of roads. You DO need a car high up the ground in Costa Rica, but you don't necessarily need a 4 x 4 (we didn't).
Finally, the day we were going to fly out, Ricardo told us we could drive ourselves to the airport and drop the car there, free of charge! Nice touch!
If you are staying in Playa Flamingo, make sure to call Ricardo. He'll take care of you.response / report this review -

My family and I have been renting a vehicle from Economy for 7 months now and have been very pleased with both the rental car and how the staff have treated us. I would highly recommend the use of this rental company to anyone. Ask for Ricardohe has been very friendly and helpful.

As a full time resident of Brasilito I have been renting long term from The Economy office in Flamingo for nearly two years. The service has been always been exceptional from Ricardo R. and Jonathan U in the front office to the fellows who detail the cars and occasionally have to race out and help me change a flat. Whenever I am asked by newbies to the area looking for a longer rental or tourists just looking to rent for a few days I immediately direct them to Economy in Flamingo. I honestly cannot say enough good things about my experience with them.

As a resident of Playa Grande, Costa Rica, I have rented cars many times from Economy Rent a Car Flamingo over the last few years. Everything about the rental experience is top notch, and my representative, Jonathan Umana is an exemplary employee. His knowledge of the rental process and his desire to make the experience easy and stress free is always appreciated. I would recommend this car rental agency to anyone.
