Great for hummingbirds, coffee, and little snacks. Not great for lunch.
Excellent coffee and pastry. You can see a lot of hummingbirds and if you're lucky even some olingos. Great to stock up before going to the national park.
Good coffee and an excellent place to see so many humming birds. There were dozens of them flying all over, attracted by sugared water. One of the few no cost activities in the area. Definitely recommended.
The hummingbirds are really nice and interesting to see!! The food is pretty average and quite expensive/not really worth it.
We made a day trip from Playa Grande on the coast, to the Cloud Forest at the recommendation of a long time family friend, Marco Sanchez (Amigo Realty, Playa Grande). It is a long drive for a day trip, but the Cloud Forest was worth it. One of our group (me), was a little too far out of shape for the relatively mild trails, so while the others covered many of the parks sites I had the wonderful experience of Cafe Colibri. It is nothing fancy, but serves tasty coffee, sandwiches and snacks. And then there are the hummingbirds. We maintain a feeder at our home in Arizona and we have several year round hummer friends. Cafe Colibri has an amazing number and many types of hummers. I enjoyed watching them feed and fight for more than an hour. The food at the cafe has a better selection than the restaurant just up the road nearer the trail head and then the hummers make it really, really special.
Great little hummingbird garden, plus a surprise visit from an opportunist olingio. Worth the price of admission (free!).
Drink coffee and enjoy the hummingbirds
Located just outside the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve (10.18.09N 84.47.45W) this is more of a coffee shop rather than a restaurant. If you want a meal you would be better served to head back down the road to Cerro Plano or Santa Elena. There are many wonderful deserts, candy bars, and drinks available here.
Ordered 2 sandwiches (one ham and one tuna) on whole wheat buns. They were served heated with chips. A nice light meal after a hike, but do not expect much more than this. Each sandwich cost 5USD.
Outside and next door there are multiple humming bird feeders with dozens of humming birds constantly buzzing around. Great photo op.
All in all this is a nice place to kick back and plan your next move while you enjoy a mocha. Enjoy.
