A Tuesday night at Chef Julian was a real treat. We started with mushrooms in garlic sauce and tortilla Español. The mushrooms were good, but the tortilla was excellent. Freshly prepared and light as an omelette, it was a treat. The white sangria was also delicious: was the fruit macerated in gin? Refreshing, sweet and juicy.
For our mains, I had grilled fish (perfect, moist and tender) and my husband, a cazuela of fish, clams and shrimp (rich, spicy and delicious). Dessert was perfect: crema Catalonia and flan.

Closer to our hotel as it’s not in the walled city but still worth going too. The red sangria and onion soup to start with the chicken rice bowl after were delicious. The rice bowls take ~45min to cook freshly but is worth it.

Friendly staff. Food was ok but nothing special. In Colombia eat colombian food 🥘 😉

Beautiful restaurant with a feeling of Madrid. Very high quality food with rich flavour, good service. Great atmosphere. It is really upper class but relaxed. For a date it is especially nice.

Local caro para comer. Porém os pratos são generosos e excelentes. Um deles serve bem duas pessoas e o preço é digno. Uma paella extraordinaria! Indico.

Nice and comfortable decor. Waiting staff were attentive. I had the chicken with chorizo and mushroom sauce. Very nice. Friend had a steak dish. Two minor points: chicken was partially uncooked owing to the fact that it was on the bone. And the steak was meant to be medium well, but it was medium rare/blue. Thick piece of steak grilled only and evidently not finished in the oven to get the right result. Issue with steak is a common theme in Colombia. Aside from that it was nice. I'd recommend.

The restaurant have a classical Madrid ambientation , but the food is a mixture of several dishes and recipes from all Spain . The seafood is amazing and probably the best in the city !
The attendants are kind and special . For me 5/5 without the stressed need to go inside the city .

For the past 43 years Chef Julian has been serving locals and tourists alike. His food is a traditional staple of restaurants in Cartagena.

One would think that a restaurant of that age and caliber would have waiters that at least spoke English.

Still the food was good the portions were very generous, any single rice dish will easily serve 2 or maybe 3 if you're not that hungry. The prices might seem steep at first sight, but the portions are huge. (At least as rices and paellas go).

    Will definitely go again .
