Beautiful place with plenty of entertainment to keep you busy. Just wished I had stayed for a few days
Accomodation was comfortable although not luxurious, but their service is lacking.
Food at the hotel restaurant is overpriced (after all, it is an island so products are scarce) and quite mediocre so it gets very boring eating here for 3 meals x 5 days. The waiters are friendly but often forgetful of any special requests, and the menu does not list all the ingredients in the dishes.
The reception staff was specifically unhelpful in our case - and responded to all issues by arguing instead of solving the issue or apologizing, making check-in and check-out a frustrating process. This included: Not having our rooms ready in time; invoicing for a "daytrip" instead of a massage; not giving our family adjacent rooms even though they agreed to do so by email months in advance. The response of the administrator (who doesn't wear a name tag) to these was simply lacking in the most basic concepts of customer service.
2 members in our family got extremely ill during our stay with diaharreah and vomiting, likely from the water (i was later told by friends you should not even brush your teeth with tap water) or the restaurant's food.
They have 2 small pieces of beach which are not very comfortable; you need to go though stairs to reach the water and there is only a very small piece of sand for children to play in.
Their massage therapists were excelent!
The boat ride back (which by the way is an extremely overpriced service compared to what other boats to the island charge) is only offered at 3pm which is normally a very windy time- meaning big waves which make half of the passangers sea sick and getting completely soaked in the open boat (luckily they hand you a plastic poncho, but only 1 per 2 or 3 passangers so it doesnt quite do the trick).
Well organized. Lunch and dinner was good. Beaches aren't that big. A good set of options for watersports. Rooms are very comfortable.
The services provided is poor considering the hotel rates. You basically have to pay for everything (bike, kayak, snorkelling equipment) and it does not come cheap. You are discouraged to leave the hotel, out of the organised activities, while locals can take you on great journeys at much cheaper price. Finally, the food is not good (you ll be told it s an island but you may also noticed there are boats coming on a daily basis bringing tourists for snorkelling/diving, which does not help you feel the exclusivity of being on an island).
Come here to relax for a day, away from the rest of the tourists. Try the food and attractions offered by local guides (who by the way are all trained to behave well to tourists). Highly recommended.
Nice resort hotel on Isla Grande. Good wifi. The prices for food and drink are higher than you'll find in Cartagena, but totally forgivable since it is an island after all.
Visited while diving through Dive Planet, which was fantastic. The place seemed rather laid back and quiet. The staff were nice and helpful. Food was good.
There were parts of the hotel we absolutely loved. The people were so friendly in kind. We particularly liked the guys at the front desk and Jader and Pedro in the restaurant. The area was beautiful, and the beach was a dream. Unfortunately, this hotel really needs to work on its service. I gave it 2 stars in hopes the owners would read this and consider making real changes. As kind as the waiters were, I really feel they need more training. This hotel is a luxury hotel and so it should have at least average, ideally premium, service to offer its guest. I've eaten in a lot of restaurants in Colombia, and sadly, this hotel had the worst service out of all of the places I've been. Waiters would forget to give us menus, bread, the sides we were supposed to have. We would have to ask repeatedly for things most waiters give automatically. By the second day, it became incredibly frustrating. It was only after we were leaving on the boat, I saw a restaurant for a different hotel not far from the "Music Beach." I would give it a try rather than eat in the hotel restaurant. Most of the food was mediocre at best (often worse), and dealing with consistently poor service affected the whole experience. This hotel is a diamond in the rough. the people are genuinely kind there, and that's a huge plus. If they worked on their service--gave their servers proper training-- and made better food, it would go a long way to making it worth-while to stay there. Right now I would not go back nor could I recommend this hotel to anyone. If I started to see in reviews that there had been real changes to the hotel, I'd go back in a second!
Nice quiet location, with two private beaches. Lunch was delicious (I had snapper) and locals are friendly yet persistent.
If you get a charter boat, all towels are included and you can order anything during your trip and pay at reception before you leave again
Went to Hotel Maragua's restaurant. Food was good but service lacked a little bit attention to details. Nice ambiance and experience overall.
A small paradise in the jungle. Overall an attention to detail. The food is consistently good and the room accommodations are fantastic and clean. Check in was un organized but well worth the wait.
The hotel lacks organization, specially for the day tour. We arrived on their boat by 10:30am and left 15pm so it is not a lot of time. Our lunch took way too long to be prepared, around 30 minutes ( Considered we had less than 5 hours in the island is quite a long time to spend waiting for lunch at a table) when it finally arrived, my wife's salad came with a dead fly and the lunch overall wasn't very good for a 5 star hotel.
The beach and surroundings are beautiful but the beach area are very short, which I think the hotel should invest more, due to being a place where many tourists spend their time.
From other hand, I highly recommend the payed extra activities like diving and stand-up paddle to fully enjoy what the island has to offer.
