Most iconic place in Cartagena. Interesting gate to enter the downtown walled city (ciudad amurallada). Walking distance to most attractions un Cartagena. Busy place with many tourists, restaurants, discoteques, bars, hotels, and even close to the beach. Keeps busy even after midnight, 2am. Safe place to go even at night.

I have to say I was expecting to have a great time as I have stayed in town prior to this and knew it had a great location. The room quality was okay; could have used a little TLC on some small things but nothing was really bad or worth mentioning to the desk. Do know there is basically no hot water (which isn't rare for some Colombian hotels). What really made it impossible for me to enjoy my experience was that the rooftop bar is really a night club and didn't stop until 3-4AM; great if you want to party till then but if you room is below it its horrifying. A Saturday night stay isn't recommended. Wish I would have known. The staff was friendly and allowed us to keep our bags at the desk after check out since we had a later flight out. WIFI basically doesn't reach the room we stayed in (#8); had to use the couches in the hall; they also said it wasn't working when we first checked in too. Breakfast was great and they had an easy picture menu for you to select from. The views from the rooms, rooftop, and 2nd floor breakfast area are great.

DON'T STAY HERE!!!! Unless you like LOUD music from the club upstairs blaring until 4a.m., with prostitutes everywhere. Worst..hotel..experience..ever. I was up until 5 a.m, had to go outside and was hounded by pimps and hookers aplenty. The 'doorman' (a large thug) wouldn't let me in the hotel to go back in, even though I told him my room number, and the low lives outside the door (I'm guessing this where they are every night) tried to setting me up with a hooker or go to a strip club after repeatedly saying no. Yes, it's very central, but it's in the center of the street-walker area, and loud. You won't sleep, Who would put a nigh club above a hotel anyway? I will say the room was nice, and the staff was very kind and helpful. It's too bad for them their owner or manager is going to run the business into the ground.

Worst ever Hotel experience!!! The hotel is next door to a club. The music was so loud and obnoxious. The wall and windows of the hotel barely block any sound. So my room is shaking at night. Don't even think about going to sleep. Maybe some rooms not next to the club are more bearable. But don't expect the staff to ask for your preference when you check in - they don't care. Other evidence of the careless behavior of the staff: when I checked in, pillow cases were left on bed and pillows are naked sitting on a shelf, and no shampoo in the bathroom.
