This was the worst hotel experience. The staff was unpleasant and complimentary water could not even be given. We were 3 people and were charged extra to have the third person in the room and they did not even offer us water as such. One of the many disappointments of the hotel. It was just not worth the money! If we were to visit Colombia again we would definitely stay in the old town.
I had a wonderful experience overall. I was upgraded to a king suite, which was super nice. The included club lounge had breakfast and drinks / snacks in the evening, daily except for Sundays. The location was very good, though the near by beaches have a lot of vendors that can be annoying. The pool is really cool and has a great sunset view. I look forward to returning.
I had a great time in this hotel, staff is very friendly, clean rooms and fantastic views. I totally recommend it
Very nice hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Beautiful pool which is wonderful since the beach area gets very crowded in the afternoon. Spacious rooms. Having breakfast included would have been nice.
Wonderful atmosphere, very clean and the staff services are 110%. The staff were friendly and had full knowledgeable of things to do and places to go. Always service with a smile.
Beautiful views. Friendly staff. Beach right across the street. Markets, restaurants, and casino within walking distance. Maybe 10 minutes from walled city.
nice hotel great pool right on the beech they always give us a beech view room high up
Amazing and spacious room, with very comfortable beds. Big pool with a nice view of the beach and the walled city, open until late at night so you can go swim after you spend the day at the beach. The restaurant food is of the best gourmet level and with good pricing. The hotel is literally in front of the beach, and next to a mall that has good stores, a food court, a movie theater, and a Juan Valdez. There are other stores and restaurants in the blocks next to the hotel, and downtown walled city is just 10 minutes on a 3-dollar taxi ride. Best hotel I've ever stayed at.
It's a beautiful hotel! Love the pool! Everyone is super friendly! I would definitely come back!
Beautiful hotel. The pool was amazing, and the service fantastic. Definitely one of the best hoteles in Cartagena.
Lovely hotel right on beach. Great value. Downside is there is no valet and parking is a hassle.
Rooms are very well appointed, clean and modern. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Value for your dollar is exceptional.
The only fault I could mention is with the amount of vicious vendors on the public beach out front.
Servicio fantástico, instalaciones excelentes, personal eficiente y cortes.
Great location, terrific infinity pool overlooking the ocean, nice pool service, modern rooms, and a delicious breakfast buffet.
My fiance and I had been traveling in Colombia for two weeks when we decided to splurge for a stay at the Intercontinental using credit card points. When we got there, we found our room to be small and prison like, with dirty windows that don't open, poor ventilation and harsh florescent lighting. The room was so claustrophobic and stuffy that we decided we couldn't spend the night there , even though we had already paid with points and couldn't cancel. We found an Airbnb and left that night.
The next day, we returned to use the pool with some friends from the US and their young sons. Our friends got there before us, and they said the staff treated them like they were robbers or prostitutes while they waited for us in the lobby, even though they were a family with young children.
We went up to the room to change, and immediately got a call on the phone telling us that visitors (our friends with young children) weren't allowed in the room. I don't know how they knew our room number, so I have to assume they were surveilling us.
We went to use the pool, and after we got in a security manager approached us and told us that visitors weren't allowed to use the pool, but he would let us do it for $30 US per person. We immediately left and went back to the room to change back our clothes, only to get a call telling us that our visitors weren't allowed in the room. I was incredibly embarrassed in front of my friends and guests.
Columbians are incredibly warm and hospitable, and Cartagena is full of wonderful hotel options with charm and personality. Everywhere else we've stayed in Colombia has been welcoming, kind and helpful. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your money at the intercontinental hotel, where they lock you in a prison like room, keep you under surveillance and treat you and your guests like criminal suspects.
The hotel was very nice, like new. Staff was friendly and the location was great. Food at the restaurant and room service was also great
Average. Great infinity pool. Terrible gym though apparently they're renovating it. Stay in the old city vs. bocagrande if you can!
