Absolutely outstanding. Obviously a can't-miss for anyone visiting Beijing. I would suggest seeing it on your own or with a private tour as the size and scale of the Forbidden City is incredible and you're not going to want to be rushed through by a large tour group. The main palaces are all stunning and full of history, but make sure to see the Eastern and Western palaces as well as many have been converted into smaller exhibits with priceless artifacts and really cool history.

Amazing Chinese architecture! The beautiful plazas and buildings are never-ending. The only thing that there wasn't enough of was time. You could spend a whole day visiting all of the buildings and relaxing in the garden.

1. Bad. Each section (north, center, south etc) of the palace costs money. Not much money but still annoying.
2. Neutral. Museum is basically tribute to communist party. Has history of the party.
3. Good. Easily accessible via subway, taxi and bus.

I didn't personally enjoy it. But chunks of the buildings are new but made to look old. I didn't sense the history of the palace.

This place is enormous. The scale dawns on you when it takes a few solid hours to move around the palace. Unfortunately lots of areas are closed off likely in an effort to preserve the history.
An incredible piece of history preserved from the Ming and Qing dynasty.

It is a place you will go there again, again and again because the rich history. I really recommend people go there twice or three times when they have chance. For people who complaint about the scam for this place, well, it is a common things around world for tourism. If you can, plan your visit ahead and make some preparations, otherwise, at least find a good local tour guide, he/she will help you a lot and let you enjoy your tour.

It doesn’t have a street address—which is only fitting for a place that was once considered the center of the universe. Nowadays, tourists swarm this 178-acre walled compound of opulent halls, gardens, and winged pavilions. Attendance is up by 2.5 million since 2010. It can easily take half a day to explore the grounds, and history buffs will appreciate the self-guided audio tour—or a hired guide.

Worth going there. Amazing buildings and was interesting to see those huge open spaces between the buildings and the amazingly big crowd. Be prepared for a surprisingly big mass of people. The buildings and museums inside are nicely restored. As far as I know there is just one toilet after the entrance.

A MUST if you're in Beijing! The whole place is steeped with China's history and it's simply breathtaking! Makes me proud to have heritage here. Spent the whole day exploring.

Restaurant in here was decent. If you're looking for a souvenir, in the one of the courtyards there's man who paints miniature pieces INSIDE tiny glass beads. Bought a lanyard necklace from him. Fascinating to watch him work.

This place is incredible.
Cannot believe this was built to accommodate for one person hundreds of years ago!
A lot of history within the walls and can explore a lot even though only 10% is open to the public. One of the most impressive feats around.
The only downside was I went in the heat of summer so it was ridiculously hot. Still a lot of people running around and always in the way of trying to take a photo.
Nevertheless - still a place you MUST visit!

Take your time here! You will need at least 4 hours to explore properly. There are a few buildings you can enter, but most of them are open and blocked off (for obvious reasons). Really cool place, especially if you are a history buff ( like me :) ) The emperors garden was one of my favorites! They have done some new archaeological digs and found some stones from the Ming dynasty in the queens garden. How cool is that? Pick up some souvenirs at the many shops here. There are snacks for purchase throughout the grounds, but make sure to get Beijing duck right outside the Palace. It is delicious, and quite an experience!

Loved the tour that we were given. This place is amazing. So much history and so rich in culture. To think that hundreds of years ago- this place was built without the use of modern day machines. The beauty of the structures and the care taken to preserve it is so commendable. It is a must that you visit this place when in Beijing.

The place is marvelous. A must visit. Do take a guide as they like to share the local trending news too. Will take almost half day because it is gigantic. But you'll enjoy it. Make sure you check the weather and carry an umbrella if necessary.

I've enjoyed the tour so much that I would love to go back and explore more. Recommend to get a guide for the tour as there are many more hidden details of the palace which one would never know of.

It's a pity that public are not allowed to enter the Great Hall and only have to take turns to look into it from the outside.

This places gives a full history of Chinese culture, both in terms of architecture and custom.

It is super interesting and is very well done, in terms of the signage and information. We did not have a guide and were able to still fully enjoy the experience and learn about the different buildings, of which there were many.

The space is huge, mind boggling that the area takes up such a huge area - it goes on and on and on.

A must see if you are in Beijing.

A very fun and beautiful experience, definitely puts you in awe when you consider the history behind it. One of my most memorable trips.

For anyone that is thinking of going, try to go on a cool day. A long walk with the heat makes it a bit unbearable and will distract you from truly appreciating the experience. If you are traveling with family or friends, I would recommend bringing a backpack filled with only food and drinks, as it may be a bit more pricey inside.

If you are visiting Beijing, the Palace Museum is definitely a place that I recommend for you to visit.
