Check in and room, very satisfactory. Pool very satisfactory. Breakfast buffet ample and varied. Dinner was offered to us in place of requested massages.
Dinner, however was disappointing: flavorless and frozen, remainders of cheese from buffet.

An okay hotel. Stayed for 2 nights. Breakfast was good. Room service meals are tasty and was very quick. No air con. Room was quite tight. Great bathroom amenities. Plenty of halal restaurants around + laundry shop. Free parking and liked that I could park and take the car myself. Need to work on insect problem. Had one spider descending from its spiderweb.

The location is great. Walking distance from the train station, restaurants, shopping. Hotel is clean and very comfortable. I love the balcony! Breakfast and afternoon tea/coffee is good. The river at the back of the hotel is also cool where you can conveniently walk/hike.

Outdated hotel, no air conditioning. They provided us with an old fan but still too stuffy to sleep at night. Huge spider in our room and spiderwebs all over hotel. The decor and appliances in the room appear to be from the 1980s. Breakfast was horrible, a weird mix of food (spaghetti?!) and stale pastries. We could hear the floor creaking above us every time somebody walked by. Also, there is a booth in the lobby selling activities. Although they were not pushy, it makes the hotel look cheap. Don't be fooled by the exterior. There are better options in the area, all close to one of the 2 train stations.

A magnificent building in a great setting, with efficient and friendly staff, and we enjoyed our stay, but it is not a 5* hotel. Some aspects are 4*, some 3*, and some are - sadly - 0*, so it is a sham to promote it as a 5* hotel, and the company needs to do a lot of work, to bring it up to standard.
For such hotels the devil is in the detail, and in some of these, the hotel falls down.
    The main issues are:
    1) There are insufficient staff working in the hotel, so no permanent bar staff, no proper concierge/porters, just a sales point for adventure trips. There are insufficient cleaning staff, so that sometimes rooms were not serviced by 4.30 in the afternoon. The reception staff are excellent, though not equally knowledgeable about what can be done in the area, and command of English varies - drawbacks to a hotel claiming to be 5*
    2) As a consequence of this and the pressure the cleaning staff is under, or a lack of proper training, or both, the room we occupied was never properly serviced - after the first day bathroom consumables were never regularly replaced. The small 'cream' cartons supplied for the coffee maker in the bedroom were never replaced after the first day, so we bought our own small carton of milk. Some of this was spilled on the fridge floor on the second day, and the spill stayed with us for the rest of our stay. There were cobwebs in the corner of the room, which also stayed with us the whole week. Again, we know that we would only have to call housekeeping to have this rectified, but it was amusing to follow through the process to its conclusion at the end of our week
    3) There is no card in the room for reporting faults, and it must have been obvious to the cleaning staff that two of the light fittings had one or more bulbs not working, but they were never replaced. Again, I am sure if we had phoned reception the things would have been put right, but it was interesting to watch progress or lack of it, over our week's stay.
    4) The hotel has not been refurbished for many years, and this shows in public areas and in aspects of the bedroom/bathroom layout and fittings. The unit in our bedroom looked cheap plastic covered chipboard, that would have looked fine in a 2* hotel, but was neither of the standard of furniture expected in a 5* hotel, nor properly designed to be of practical use to a holidaying couple staying for a week - not enough storage space. The same can be said of the bathroom, which also looked like it was done 20 years ago, and had not been touched since.
    5) The standard of the furniture and furnishings around the hotel were not of the standard expected in a 3* hotel, and absolutely were not those of a 5* hotel: the chairs in the dining room had been overpainted, but this was chipped and looking shabby on many of them. Also, the curtains/drapes were cheap and cheerful - unlined, thin material.
    6) The food offered at dinner was always well-cooked, but the menus were simple, and the food was not very imaginatively presented - again, something that one would not expect from a five star hotel.

Finally, the ambience of the hotel was very poor. In a dining room that must seat potentially 120 diners, we were never accompanied at dinner by more than about ten other diners, except on the one evening when many locals came for the barbecue evening. Similarly, for three evenings before dinner, my wife and i were the ONLY guests in the bar, and there were never more than 6 people in the bar at the same time, on any evening.
If the hotel were not part of a group, my impression would have been of a grand old lady in decline, and soon to die/close. This seems to me to be because the hotel needs a lot of investment to upgrade it, and this is well overdue.

Location: Excellent. Staff: Very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and accommodating. Buffet breakfast: wonderful. Grounds and common areas were very nice. The bathroom in our room had been updated and was clean and had all the necessary amenities. My only disappointment was that the wall covering in our room had many stains. The carpet, too, needed a good cleaning or replacement. We were staying in a corner junior suite with a balcony. I expected a bit more for the condition of the room. Otherwise a very good stay.

The hotel was delightful. It's very conveniently located (walking distance to train station and 'downtown') and the breakfasts are full and delicious. There's a pool and nice, comfortable rooms.

The first thing that is obvious in this hotel is the higher level of personal service provided by staff, starting with a friendly and informative greeting at check in. There is clearly a commitment to ones personal comfort during ones stay. I received an instant upgrade from single to double room with a balcony and a view of the mountains (low cloud permitting!) without request,. The hotel is generally spacious but surprisingly the room shape and layout in my room meant it was a little claustrophobic at first - being long between door and window, but narrow in width (top to bottom of bed), but it was a well equipped and comfortable room, with the usual attributes, sufficient sockets, and a proper double bed. The bathroom was quite small containing a short bath/shower, toilet and sink, but was clean and was full of additional toiletries and devices (like shaving/cosmetic mirror, hair drier etc). The free internet was also perfectly adequate for my business requirements. The bar and restaurant areas were quiet (most guests were in rooms by 9pm) but again personal service/and friendliness of staff was great. I had a restful comfortable night, had an excellent breakfast from the buffet which was extensive in its offerings (and available up to 10:30am suiting my travel plans) and delivered eggs to ones preferred style and hot chocolate etc. to order. Following check out I was offered a free lift to the station with my luggage which was most welcome. All in all, it was a very relaxing and restful overnight stay after a hard week working at altitude in harsh conditions. I will certainly choose to stay again.

We were impressed by the service of the employees both at check-in and throughout our stay. Breakfast was delicious as was the room service dinner we ordered one night. The touches such as New Year's champagne and good luck candies were much appreciated and added to our overall experience. The room was clean and well appointed. We would stay there again.

Your hotel has a lot to offer for people who are looking for a little bit of a nostalgic feeling. When you enter through the main entrance you dont have to imagine what the early 1900 looked like. It is right there.
Your staff is friendly and observant.
The long high hallways, and the wide stair case of the past, with all the antic furniture is a very nice touch.
The rooms have all the modern comforts, modern bathroom, flat screen television, wireless, it is all there.
We had dinner, and the service and food were wonderful, even our favorite wine from Wallis!
I have 2 negative points - breakfast - I am used to "more" from a 5 star. Fresh fruit ( more than just kiwis and oranges), and the fruit salad was very standard. cold cuts, nothing special. Nice selection of breads, but the presentation and just the look and feel - was lacking.
My second grip - the spa area - the pool is very impersonal. I felt like I was on a presenation platter. Didn't feel "nice" at all..
Would I come again, yesbut for 5 stars I do expect a little more well WOW
