  nice room and nice breakfast. Charming hotel with pleasant walk down to the shoreline and shops.
  There is need for much better description of exactly where the ramp is to walk down with luggage from the train. We didn't know there was a ramp and it was awful taking heavy luggage down many flights of stairs. The hotel needs a very clear map and description of how to find the ramp and that there is one.

  This hotel is located in a very convenient location for travelers. A short walk from the beautiful train station, and moments via funiculare to town center. Views of the lake from the large windows and patio in guest rooms. This property is very clean and the staff is very courteous. Felt like being at home with family. Our room was beautiful, comfortable, and affordable.

  Perfect location from the train station (2 min walk) and town centre. Nice and cozy room with good view of the city, and a good selection of breakfast. Very helpful staffs too (one of them speaks pretty good Chinese)! We will stay here for sure if we visit Lugano again.

  Loved this hotel! It's very conveniently situated and our room was wonderful. We were lucky to have a front row center view of the fireworks from our balcony on Swiss Independence Day. Lugano is a lovely city. We would definitely recommend traveling here and staying at the Hotel Federale again!

  We stayed here for 10 days in early June 17 There is nothing we could fault with this establishment a very clean comfortable Deco style hotel.The staff were excellent in all respects .The included Breakfast was a treat with a great selection of food ready to start the day, The hotel restaurant was also very nice sitting outside at night and the menu made a change from eating Pasta & Pizza in many of the local restaurants in town. The location is also ideal just a short walk to the main station and down the hill into the town . We were lucky enough to have a lovely room with a balcony looking towards Monte Bre The only regret was having to return to our home in Melbourne Australia where it is Winter now and very cold!
  We will always have good memories of this place and will be sure to return again.

  We spent 5 days at the Hotel Federale in Lugano recently and it was a fantastic place. The rooms were large and spotlessly clean and the view from the balcony made it very hard to actually go and do anything! We had a lovely welcome and the level of service was excellent all the way through.
  
  The location is ideal - 10 minute walk (downhill) to the lake and 5 minute walk (very uphill!) to the station. However, there is a funicular which connects the main town to the station and that definitely takes some of the strain off!
  
  We would highly recommend the hotel and if we go back to Lugano, there's nowhere else we'd stay.

  Great service and spotless rooms. Tip: get a room facing the lake and mountains and not the train station (which was under major re-construction when we visited). Breakfast buffet was solid, especially the bread, but the coffee was sub-par and overall presentation was uninspiring. Still, I would certainly return here: its location and views can't be beat.

  Nice, clean hotel located very close to the train station. Only real negative is that it is up a fairly severe hill from town. Very nice staff though.

  Good family hotel in a beautiful city: great location, very friendly staff and impeccable service. One of the few hotels providing family rooms. On the pricey side, but then again: it is Switzerland.
