I highly recommend this hospital! The hospital’s inside is bright and clean. The staff are super friendly and the doctor is professional and took good care of my cats. They truly care your pets and will even follow up to see if your pets are doing well after the visit.
I was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness, friendliness, and knowledge of the vet at Wellesley Animal Hospital. We moved downtown recently and have had other vets in the past, but Dr.Ma and her clinic are wonderful and unexpected gems in the neighbourhood. Dr. Ma was gentle, kind, supportive, and extremely intelligent, and by far the best vet we have ever had. Would give 6 stars if I could.
Swanky digs for a vet. Just outside Wellesley station. The entrance is on a lane way parallel to Yonge. The first floor is where you check in and has food and stuff for purchase. Upstairs is where the clinic is. Very calm atmosphere. Light filled and bright. Very zen. The staff are friendly and professional and seem to care about animals genuinely.
WAH is amazing and I highly recommend if you live downtown Toronto! I've taken my two fur babies to them for over 4 years and they always make both me and my cats feel welcome and comfortable. The brand new location is beautiful, although the entrance is a little tricky to find the first time. All the staff are wonderful but I have to give a special thank you to Amie and Dr. Ma for taking such great care of my girls!
Amazing vet clinic that truly encapsulates what it means to love the work that you do and love the animals that you care for. Wellesley Animal Hospital's vets and assistants have been taking care of our kitten, Olive, since we first adopted him over a year and a half ago. They never pressure us into unnecessary purchases or shots, but make helpful recommendations and suggestions, and are always available when we need them. The vets are so kind, patient, and accommodating.
Their recent renovation really reflects how much they prioritize the needs of animals. For instance, some of their kennels are heated on the bottom for larger dogs, and the "recovery" cubicles face a glass window so that animals can watch people from the outside. It's a truly beautiful renovation that puts animals first and is so thoughtfully curated and designed. A bit pricer than other vets, but worth it for the quality, attention, and care that your pet will 1100000% receive! Highly recommend this place.
We took our newly adopted pup, Cali, in after she had some vomiting incidents. We were very concerned, as new paw-rents, by what we saw and wanted to get her in ASAP. Wellesley Animal Hospital was kind enough to fit us in same day and was able to accommodate when Cali was late (distracted by squirrels). The vet was great - very kind and answered all our questions. She made sure we knew that we were doing a great job and the vomiting was just part of dog life. We really appreciated her no BS approach and the fact that she made the appointment about Cali's best interest an didn't try to up-sell us on anything. We will 100% be back for Cali's annuals and any emergency. Thank you so much for making Cali's first vet appointment positive and informative!
Super friendly and seem to genuinely care about the animals here, but super pricey. May have to rethink going here just for the cost.
When I moved to Toronto last year, I needed a place to take care of my dogs and I chose this one based on the reviews I read here and I could not be more satisfied with my decision. The staff is extremely kind and lovely with my dogs, and I trust them with my eyes closed. If you're looking for a vet clinic, take your pet there and you won't be disappointed.
THIS CLINIC IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEATH OF MY GOLDEN RETRIEVER!
It has been almost a year since the passing of my beautiful dog that kept me company for 11 years and only now did I decide to write this review and put the blame onto this Clinic.
I brought my dog here when she suddenly collapsed one day at noon. They did not deem it an emergency and told me to wait for 3 hours to see a doctor!
In 3 hours I brought her back and the doctor did not seem to take the situation seriously. They injected her with a bag of liquid and sent us home.
By the evening seeing no improvements, I took my dog the veterinary emergency centre, where the actual professionals there took it seriously and started testing and figuring out what was wrong. By morning they diagnosed cancer and sent her immediately to the operating room.
Now imagine if the doctor at Wellesley Animal Hospital actually did take the situation seriously — perhaps the surgery would have been done sooner.
The actual surgery was successful, but my poor dog succumbed to complications in several days. I paid over $12,000 for her treatment and only wish I got a competent assessment sooner. Perhaps she would still be alive. I put the blame on this place. It is unworthy of its reviews to say the least.
I've been to many vets over the years and there are a few things I particularly like about these guys:
1) they are up front and understanding about costs. Many vets seem to straight up avoid talking about the bill while you're with them, and then dump a fat bill on you at the end. All the vets here have always explained to me what I'm getting and give me clear options on what's necessary vs precautionary.
2) they are very accessible. They do followup emails as a standard, and are excellent with responding to email inquiries at no charge. This has been very helpful.
I highly recommend these guys.
I visited two other clinics in Toronto before coming to Wellesley Animal Hospital, the Vets I met before were cold and didn't seem to care for their patients at all. I honestly have no words to thank Dr. Jon, he's the first Vet in Canada that made me fell like he really cares for my cat's health, I would recommend him to anyone.
I originally brought my hamster here for an emergency appointment once, so naturally I went back once I got a dog. Dr. Ma was always patient and kind, but then I had to switch to Dr. John because of scheduling. Now, he doesn't care about anything except taking your money, and when my dog was scared the doctor all but wrestled him instead of trying to calm him down! Needless to say, I switched vets entirely after that.
I brought my dog here because he had a "party" with our garbage while we weren't home. After a day of continuous bloody diarrhea, I decided it was time to see the doctor! Dr. Ma and the staff were wonderful, fully explaining themselves and answering all the many questions I had. My financial concerns were met with understanding and kindness. With some medications and probiotics, my dog's gut has never been better!
I have truly loved every appointment with Dr. John. From our first emergency visit, to our regular check-ups, the team at WAH has always taken tremendous care of my timid rescue dog. Thank you for being a great part of our community!
The appointment scheduling was very quick, overall the customer service was nice. However, my cat was sick and they wanted to do blood work, only to tell me they couldn't detect anything. I was advised my cat almost looked as if she might not be able to make it if she doesn't get treated. The cost was very expensive for the one visit which included: blood work, two different prescriptions. I was only able to afford one of the prescriptions since the blood work alone was costly. Luckily the prescription I purchased did the trick and my cat was full of life.
Overall, I'm disappointed in my first experience there, my friend had recommended me to go to her vet but because of the location I decided to go here. I will not be going back in the future as I feel the vet lacked confidence in her work and seemed very uncertain with the diagnosis of my cat.
Wellesley Animal Hospital displayed every form of compassion and sympathy when Holly, our 19.5-years-old Jack Russell beagle finally passed away last year. Staff were on hand to see to see Holly through her final stages and to comfort my wife in particular. A very difficult situation handled with professionalism and compassion.
Fantastic staff - my cats always get the best care at Wellesley Animal Hospital. Everyone is so very attentive and kind. Scheduling is a breeze. Grooming work is excellent, too! I have had animals in my life since I was a child and I have never loved a vet clinic like I love the Wellesley Animal Hospital. They have taken such amazing care of our furry friends, going above and beyond the call of duty when our senior cat passed a couple years ago. Staff are all professional and friendly. We'll never take our cats anywhere else!
