Taking a sick pet to the emergency vet is never easy. It is always after hours, late, dark and very anxious making. My beautiful kitten got violently ill and the Vaughan- Richmond Hill Emergency Vet was my vet of choice as my bulldog had been successfully treated there previously.
Dr Jenna Richards warmly greeted me and clearly sensed my panic. Her soft voice and calming manner made me immediately feel that I was with a competent professional. She gave me options, suggestions and never pushed an expensive procedure.
Patiently Dr Richards guided me through each test, explaining what the results could mean. I left there feeling in control of my decision and very very confident that my precious pet was in the best hands possible.
Thank you Dr Richards for the time you gave me and thank you to all the staff at the Vaughan Richmond Hill Emergency Vet.

Five days ago we noticed that our beloved 4-yr old Russian Blue cat was hardly breathing. We drove immediately to this hospital and after the X Rays were performed were given the diagnosis of Congestive Heart Failure. We were advised by a female vet that the only solution would be to put the cat to sleep, otherwise the cat would have lived 2-3 days at the most. We were absolutely devastated with the news, and ofcourse we made the decision to look for a second advice. We went to the Cardiology Center for pets in Oakville, where all the analysis were performed, and guess what? Our cat’s heart was 100% fine, he did have a severe internal infection with lots of pus that had to be removed immediately. After 5 days our beloved cat is back to us happy and playful. I WOULD ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. I WILL ACTUALLY TAKE MY TIME TO REPORT THE MISDIAGNOSIS TO HIGHER ORGANIZATIONS. IF THAT DOCTOR WAS NOT SURE OF HER DIAGNOSIS SHE SHOULD NEVER ADVISE TO PUT THE POOR ANIMALS TO SLEEP! SHAME ON SUCH PLACES! YOU WERE GIVEN A LICENCE FOR A REASON - SAVING LIVES AND NOT TAKING THEM AWAY!!!!!!

We brought our dog to the emergency clinic the other night in a panic. He was immediately taken to the back to be assessed. Dr Richards then came out to speak to our family. She was very approachable and took the time to soothe the anxiety of a worried family, while clearly outlining our treatment options. I'm thrilled to say that our pup is back to his happy, active ways! I cannot express enough thanks for the care we received. Luc and family

    IRRESPONSIBLE!!

My wife and I were in town visiting relatives when our diabetic dog had a seizure. She had never had one before - we were absolutely terrified. I was so sure we were going to lose our girl. We rushed her into the nearest emergency clinic, being Vaughan Veterinary Emergency Hospital, as they are listed as a 24 hour hospital. We unfortunately arrived there to find that WAS NOT the case. They are only open at night!!!

Luckily we managed to get our sweet girl to another local clinic that managed to save her.

Even after all this time, they're still listed as being 24/7! I don't know if they did this purposely or out of negligence but either way someone should be absolutely ashamed of themselves!!!!

The most terrible, disgusting experience of my life!!!
I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. First of all, when calling to ask if they were open, we were asked the size of our dog and told the price of putting the dog to sleep and then asked if we would want the ashes or paw print of the dog-first of all, I didn't realize it was a slaughter house I thought it was a Vet office to help find treatment or the problem with the dog. Secondly, we get there and we were told to sit in the area where you sit when they put the dog to sleep, didn't fill out a health history on the dog, didn't give our name, phone number nothing!!- and the receptionist said that she had to take the dog to be examined in the back by himself, we were not allowed to be there. My dog has anxiety and when he was in such state, he would've felt better if we would've been there with him, she disagreed as if she knows my dog and his behaviour. As we were listening to him from the front area crying loudly and whaling, the receptionist came out and said bluntly, "so did you want to do it or want an exam, you'll pay extra for the exam" We told her we weren't there to put our dog to sleep, we were there to check our dog b/c he wasn't feeling well-not to put him to sleep. By this point, he was still in the back, no vet Dr. came out to introduce themselves, to ask history on the dog or the problem with the dog, NOTHING. After insisting to bring the dog out, the receptionist did and asked again if we were ready to put him to sleep. We told her we didn't feel comfortable, how can they make ethical judgement based on the dogs heart rate and NO history to do such a thing??? We ended up leaving, her response was "your vet will give you the same option"
The receptionist herself looked nervous, confused and had such delayed answers that didn't make any sense what so ever, as if she was on drugs, when we asked the exact address of the place, was stuttering saying she actually didn't even know it. I would NEVER ever recommend this place to anyone, I will be calling and finding out the exact names of those people and will let you know but totally disgusting experience. I guess they make more money in not diagnosing, and just jumping to putting the pet to sleep. At this point, I wouldn't even be surprised if there was no vet in the back! When sharing this experience with my vet, they were totally appalled by this behaviour as well- I will share this with everyone and I've written this lengthy review to save another family as well!

My dog is drooling like a water tap for last two days, and the vet made few basic check like temperature and looking at the mouth, then said this was due to heat stress because of my room temperature was too high and then released him without any meaningful action, now we put him in much cooler room with fan and AC but he is still drooling and the symptoms are only getting worse after one day. We will take him to another vet for another check. If your dog is not in serious accident please don't waste your time and money at this place. I am giving two star because the nurse and vet are friendly.

Got to this clinic late last night with an almost unresponsive dog that had a seizure/ syncope like episode.
Clueless staff ( new and possible no prior experience) and a very unprofessional doctor who did not want to show up unless the receptionist will take the dog inside the closed quarters. I explained to her that I would like to stay with my dog into the consultation room to hear and see what the doctor has to say. Her answer? BECAUSE OF PRIVACY RULES YOU CANNOT COME IN!
WOW!!! I felt like I was on hidden camera prank show. REALLY?????!!!!!!
This is a dog that cannot speak/ write/ understand and CERTAINLY cannot give consent to consultation and treatment!!! I AM her legal guardian/owner/ mother and I intent to stay with her in the consultation room.
The answer was NO! SORRY, PRIVACY RULES!!!
    REALLY???!!!!!

I'm NOT recommending this clinic based on this and , unfortunately, PRIOR experience!

Left this clinic and drove 20 min. north to Newmarket. Excellent, professional, knowledgeable staff and doctor at Journey's End Circle Emergency Clinic.

We were extremely anxious when our 11 year old Maltese, Max, got very sick during the night and we needed to get him immediate help. We took him to the Vaughan Richmond Hill Emergency and were quickly met by staff and the doctor on site. Dr. Pechmann was extremely caring, not just towards our pet, but also towards us, two upset "parents'. She explained to us what the issue was with Max, and the treatment options, and was very patient and kind to us. We are very glad to have taken Max there and seen Dr. Sarah, and to have peace of mind that the clinic is there if we ever have emergency needs again.

Richmond Hill Veterinary helped me stay calm and instructed me on the phone, and once arrive was nothing but an pleasant experience despite my circumstances. They were beyond kind, caring. First time scare with my little pup, however the ladies made a bad situation good! So grateful for the staff! Thank you so much.

Dr. Sarah Pechmann spent time patiently with me to inform me of various options and strategies to make my poor Ruben as comfortable as possible and to give him the best opportunities for survival. She was not only excellent in her guidance but I trust she made Ruben as calm and comfortable as possible during his final hours. Thank you Dr. Pechmann.

The staff were amazing from start to end! From the time we arrived with our family member Justin (cat), knowing something was wrong but hoping to take him home, to having to put him down after extensive teststhe staff were professional, personal, caring, attentive and most of all met every request we as a family made.

You may think the fees are a bit high but when it is all about life and death of a family member (pet), after hours it is nice to know there are people on call to get the answers within an hour.

So blessed to have this clinic in town.

Though we lost our Justin due to heart failure, we are thankful we have this clinic in town with a team that cares.

The staff were friendly and helpful. We called ahead to make sure they were open and as soon as we got there, they greeted us and asked for the details concerning our pup. The injury wasn't life threatening but we were very concerned and anxious. The staff practically held our hand they entire way through! They checked in on us throughout the process, we were given step by step details and even a invoice prior to beginning any medical treatment. We have pet insurance so cost wasn't a huge concern for us but it was great to see how much they informed us and included us along the way. The waiting room is large and welcoming. They even have coffee and tea available for when you're waiting. The experience was phenomenal and I would definitely recommend taking your pet here if you have an emergency.
