Place is awesome. Ray is one cool dude. He is easy going and very helpful. The rooms in the motel are out dated but that’s what makes the place cool. His trails are good and the atmosphere at the place is laid back and relaxing. Last time there we arrived late at night and Ray had our firewood ready by the fire pit line we asked and was quick to check us in so we could begin our weekend. if you want swanky high end accommodations. Not the place for you. If you want to relax and have a good time atving or jeeping this is the place to stay.

I come to South Wind a few times per year and Ray is always improving the place and trying to make it better for the people who stay there. I haven't been in the motel but the rest of the property is well taken care of and kept as clean as it can be with its purpose. The trails he has created in the back of the property are awesome and open all year round, great for all the 4x4 junkies. Highly recommend staying here if you're looking to be up in minden for a few days.

Excellent campground. Clean, great atmosphere and super friendly. Ray is the best! He is an outgoing hard-working individual who absolutely loves what he does which makes this campground more than just a campground! It's a place to go visit like you would family and friends. Ray is always there to greet us with a smile and loves telling us about everything that he has been working on. He likes to keep us all informed on changes both completed and upcoming. Its great! The trails he has up there for everyone to use are amazing! The amount of back breaking labour that went in to making them and keeping them maintained is extensive! So much fun! Congratulations Ray you have made something that no one else has! A place that doesn't just feel like a business out to make moneyit's so much more than that. Everyone in our group looks forward to going there and loves every minute! Thank-you!!!

If you are looking for a great place to ride and aren't fussy about the rooms, this place is great. Geared towards Off Road enthusiasts, has on site jeep and ATV trails and links directly the HATV trail network. Ray even provides a pressure washer to wash the mud off, if needed. The rooms are dated and small, but relatively clean. Fridge and microwave in each room. The bed was surprisingly comfortable and the room was decently quiet. Not the Ritz, but was more about the ride anyways.

This is a great camp ground. The washroom facilities are clean, the same for the showers.

We love that Ray the owner is so accommodating to the of4wd community. His trails are a welcome addition and we love that everything is centrally located. He has everything that a large group will need: campsites with and without power, motel, trailers for rent etc. It's a great spot!

We came here last year for an ATV weekend and loved it so much that we now have a year round campsite here.

This place is okay. Can't comment on the campsites or motel rooms as I've only stayed in the cottage, which is a good building for a group of guys. Year after year though, barely any heat in the "cottage". Owner says he turns on the heat at noon but by 7pm on a -5 day it's only gotten to 15° because there's only one small baseboard heater for the large main room. Also they don't allow you to book reservations more than approx two months in advance. If a customer calls and says they want to give you their business, they should accept it and not use the excuse that their book isn't out yet Mouse droppings and flies everywhere, and not the cleanest. I would go back (I go yearly) because it's a good and cheap space for a group of guys. The "cottage" is much better than a motel room because it has two rooms, four beds, a pull out couch and a full kitchen with dishes.

I camped here for 2 nights in January. Yes, it was very cold at night -20°C. The owner, Ray, was extremely helpful and accommodating, and he even came to check on me after the first night. The property has a large forest area with a number of trails suitable for snowshoeing. Campers can purchase bundles of firewood (hardwood, with softwood kindling included, all very dry) for very reasonable rates. The campsites range from bush/wilderness style to fully serviced. I don't know anything about the motel rooms, but would be willing to give them a try based solely on the excellent customer service and beautiful forest.
