Months ago I had gone to the ER and had a terrible experience leaving the hospital a 1 star review. Since then I have been back in the ER twice and nothing had changed. The nurses there were completely uninterested in helping patients and would spend time chatting amongst themselves instead of doing patient intake in triage.
With that said, the doctor's, technicians and nurses in the other wings of the hospital have been nothing but friendly and accommodating and they keep to schedule which is why I am revising my review to 3 star.
This hospital needs more staff, less wait times, MDs who actually know what they are talking about. They tried to give me Tylenol for pneumonia. The wait times are super ridiculous 6hours and I'm just getting to the second waiting room. The emergency department is a joke. Triage nurses act like you pissed in their coffee. Bottom line one of the worst hospitals in the GTA.
There should be Zero Star rating. This place was and is horrible. Triage nurses themselves were great but I had am emergency, went to see the crisis team and they gave me 10 minutes to explain, no notes taken no explanation of the drugs and didn't bother to even ask what drugs I was already on. I immediately went to Lakeridge Oshawa and the treatment was absolutely amazing, I couldn't say enough things positive about this location. PLEASE DO NOT SEEK HELP IN AJAX.
DO NOT COME IN WITH MIGRAINE! DRIVE SOMEWHERE ELSE. Ajax hospital offers deplorable patient care. Impersonal and dismissive doctor who couldn't be bothered to even pretend to have a drop of humanity. SLOWEST NURSE ON THE PLANET. Unorganized. Unable to provide patients with a pillow (let alone a bed) even after 3 hours of lying on waiting room floors suffering in pain. Can't say enough about how terrible my experience was.
Hands down worst/slowest process I've ever been apart of. You will wait for hours to go from waiting room one to waiting room 2 then after a few more hours you'll go on google and give it a mandatory one star review. If i could give it zero stars I would. The guy beside me has been here for upwards of eight hours I have been here for five. I read all the reviews before I got here" they werent going to be real but trust me they are. Stay away.
Waited 4 hours for my father, with head trama to be looked at. Still have yet to be called. Rude staff.
Worst hospital I've ever been to. Triage let me go into full blown shock even though I told them all my symptoms and mentioned I was unable to keep liquids down and then we're somehow surprised that I had almost passed out in their waiting area and never got an iv. Had to ask my boyfriend to hunt down a blanket for me and the nurses ask why I needed one when I was visibly trembling on the table. I spent 4 hours puking, groaning and writhing in psin before a doctor saw me. He seemed uninterested in actually helping and told me I probably have a flu and to go home and suck it up. Go else unless you literally have no choice.
I went in pregnant with my twins having major back pain. The nurse told me to go home and have a bath. She said sciatic pain happens on pregnancy. I was also on a wheelchair couldn't walk. I overheard her telling the other nurse who comes with there own wheelchair. Apparently I had 2 slip disc pressing on my sciatic nerve. Couldn't walk. Very unprofessional.
I have been here on emergency. Sadly they took me as if Its a casual case. It's okay I understand what they go through at times. Wait times may be a bit longer on casual visit. Parking price is a bit too much.
The only reason I give this hospital 2 stars is because the doctor was very good. I brought my son in because he split his head open. I was freaking out and holding a towel over his bleeding head. All the people waiting seemed more concerned then the nurses working there. I finally got a nurses attention and she told me to calm down and that my son would be fine (He ended up needing 4 staples to close his head wound) The registration process is ridiculous. You're expected to wait in line to speak to a nurse (and it's not very clear especially to someone having an emergency) then you have to wait in a second line and speak to the administration. You're suppose to know all this just by reading the signs, there isn't even one actual person there to tell people entering the emergency what they should do. It's confusing, crowded and chaotic in there. It's also dirty; I felt like I was in a third world hospital. We waited over 3 hours to see the doctor. I'm so disappointed that this is the closest hospital to my home. We won't be coming back here.
