I have been here many times in the ER and the one thing I hate is the WAIT TIME! It takes for freaking ever. I had to wait 4 hours for my lip, witch was the side of a grape. And the staff here are really nice so I have to give them that.
The Ross emergency dept is a joke. My son sat in emergency for 12 hours with a broken arm then they sent us home ( with no cast) then called us back the next morning (because they forgot to cast him) then I get a call a week later telling me he needs surgery to repair a compound fracture they missed.
I had a (thankfully) minor stroke and they were to refer me to a specialist. They forgot again and two years to the day I had my stroke I finally got a referral. My husband went in with chest pain and again they were going to refer him to a specialist he Never got a referral why you ask they "lost" the requisition. This hospital should be investigated. I would rather go to one of our local veterinary clinics at least I would get a free milkbone and a pat on the head!
Came in after mental health episode, and the youth mental health nurse/psychiatrist had their focus on my weight! What does my weight have to do anything? Last time I checked they are trained in the mental health department, not physical health. I refused to listen to anymore of it, and as I was trying to leave, they send security after me. I had no intentions of harming myself/others, they just wanted me to sit there and listen to their SCOLDING. In fact, they told me "we're not done our discussion." Funny, the mental health worker and psychiatrist weren't the skinniest themselves. A security guard then sat outside of my room staring at me like a criminal for 5 hours. The staff treat you like a waste of time when you explain what's going on. Absolutely disgusting hospital. I feel bad for the locals who have to deal with that. I know for a fact after talking to neighbours etc, most in town make the drive to Port Perry. That says a lot. People would rather drive for 40 mins to another hospital than to go to the one in their own town.
I was visiting cottage country and unfortunately cut my index knuckle to the bone with a knife (multi-tool). I ended up at Ross Memorial Hospital as it was the closest hospital. I waited for 5 hours and although this may not seem all that long to some, there's signs all over the hospital asking people not to get upset and expect to wait 2.5 hrs (so I expected to be there for 2.5 hrs) NOT 5 hrs! By the time the doctor got to me the cut had already sealed itself closed and the doctor ended up putting crazy glue on the cut and a bandage. While waiting I noticed the hospital tried to 5S, a Lean term, but completely missed the point. Items that were placed in it's labeled designations didn't match. This hospital need major rework in it's processes. I could have gone to Scarborough Grace and back to Fenelon Falls faster
I have sat in silent rage for 18 months until having seen a Stephen Fry program about mental health care in the UK. Run from Ross Memorial Hospital if you have a mental health issue. I went into the ER for broken ribs from a bad fall. I was asked many times by staff "Do you know why you are here?" The medical staff can only see the Bipolar tag on my electronic chart and nothing else. I received no treatment and two different doctors lied right to my face. I rate the Ross less than zero!
My mother has been in and out of this hospital many times over the last five years and I have experienced nothing but compassion and excellent care. Unfortunately, when folks are sick they expect to be taken care of immediately regardless of circumstance or medical priority. It's unfortunate to hear that people have had to wait a handful of hours in an emergency room but guess what! That's every hospital! not just RMH. But hell, I guess they should just let critical care patients tough it out in order to tend to folks that hate waiting in the ER with their restless kids. Just because a triage nurse isn't busy, doesn't mean the actual doctors aren't!
First question was "where are you from" What is your background"? Why do you care? Just get me the doctor and let's get going. I am Canadian citizen and I presented you with my help card. Just because I am not white doesn't mean I get to answer weird questions. Guess what? Sitting here for over 5 hours and no one cares. This place and all hospitals in Ontario want people to die indeed. Someone from this hospital train your staff not to ask me question about my race.
Absolutly the WORST service iv ever had!!
sat with a 6 month old with borderline whooping cough for 6 hours!! Still sitting here haven't seen a soul! Another woman beside me crying in agony for at least 20mins.absolutely nothing has been done!
If your looking for medical care this is NOT the place for it.
You would have better luck getting diagnosed by a Walmart physician and treat yourself!!
Hands down the shittiest hospital iv been to and will NEVER return to.
Do yourself a favour and go somewhere else even if its further!
I've literally been sitting here over 3 hours and still not a doctor has came to check my problem. Took me just over an hour to get sent from one room to the next. Why the hell am I going to continue to pay to park here or even go here when there such pathetic service. Like there's 4 people here. 1 is going around checking on people " I haven't been looked at once." Two younger ladies are laughing away doing nothing. I am absolutely pissed off. Ifor I were to grade this place. F-
0.01/5 Do not go to Ross Memorial Hospital for issues concerning mental health. They do not care for the emotional or mental state of their patients. Their main focus is being very arrogant about their titles and continuously bring them up throughout meetings. They are not willing to help you achieve a better understanding of your mental health. Even if you've been suffering from depression and anxiety for many years it will take the psychologist less than 5 minutes to decide he knows whats best disregarding the opinion of any previous doctor, psychologist or counselor you have seen with his sole reasoning being "because I am i psychologist". Very poor service. EXTREMELY disappointed especially with how open and aware mental health is in Canada. Our health care being free is not an excuse in any way, shape or form to neglect your patients.
