Huge numbers of (mostly) Polish-American soldiers trained in Niagara-on-the-Lake to fight for Polish Independence. The story of the training camp is fascinating. The SPK is proud to promote the lecture series hosted by the Niagara Historical Society.

No there is no better excuse to get together, but to catch up over dinner and eat paczki :)
I would like to invite you all to SPK for paczki in celebration of Fat Thursday :) No worries, we will be serving traditional polish food as well :)

Logistics: There is no ATM in the buidling, please bring cash if possible. There is parking underground or across the street behind the Steelworkers building on Cecil St. If you are parking across the street let us know so we can give you a pass for the evening.

Two English-language lectures: 1) An intrduction to Polish Military History is an overview of some of the most interesting Polish history of the last millenium with some surprising trivia included (given by Henryk Sokolowski, Treasurer, Polish Combatants' Association in Canada, Toronto) and 2) Polish WW1 Camp Kosciuszko at Niagara-on-the-Lake brings to light a most fascinating, but little known, pictorial story of Polish history which took place right here in Ontario (given by Stan Skrzeszewski, Historical Curator, Polish Army Museum of Col. B. Orlinski, Mississauga).
Both speakers are experienced and not boring. All are welcome but space is limited so an RSVP is essential to HSokolTor@gmail.com or call 905-569-0642.

The Polish Tree in Owen Sound, Ontario. A Polish soldier at the Tadeusz Kosciuszko Polish Army Training Camp carved this message into a beech tree on April 17, 1942.
"Jeszcze Polska nie zginela" and signed simply "zolnierz."
As the beech tree is near the end of its life, an effort will be made to preserve the slab with the carving once the tree dies.

UK Launch of Życie Codzienne Zołnierzy Polskich Sił Zbrojnych na Zachodzie 1939-1947 – Mariusz Gąsior, Jan Szkudliński, Artur Wodzyński.
On Friday, 10 March, at the Sikorski Museum in London, England, Mariusz Gąsior launched this book with a detailed Powerpoint presentation. The event was introduced by Wiktor Moszczyński from the Friends of Polish Veterans Association (SPPW) and the lead representative of A Million.
Mariusz Gąsior is the curator of Polish photographic material at the Imperial War Museum in London; Dr Szkudliński and Artur Wodzyński are curators of the World War II Museum in Gdańsk.
The book depicts everyday life of the Polish soldier from unusual angles previously rarely seen, for example, entertainment, living quarters, on exercise, everyday hygiene, interaction with the liberated civilian population, just to mention a few, and Mariusz Gąsior displayed a selection of these photographs.

On behalf of all my colleagues in the University of Toronto Campus Conservatives, it is my pleasure to invite you to once again attend our annual Pope John Paul II Day reception. The event will be held on Saturday, 1 April, at 2:30 PM in the parish hall of St. Casimir’s Church, 156 Roncesvalles Ave., Toronto. As you will recall, past attendees have included representatives of the Polish and Hungarian consulates, MPP Lorne Coe, former MPs Ted Opitz and Wladyslaw Lizon, and former Deputy Mayor of Toronto Chris Korwin-Kuczynski. This year, invitations have been extended to other religious, political, and diplomatic officials, as well as representatives of various Polish-Canadian organizations. As always, our annual celebration will be an excellent opportunity to meet with politically involved youth, as well as members of the GTA’s Polish and Roman Catholic communities. This year, we expect between 60 and 70 attendees in total. Tea, coffee, and pastries will be served. Please let me know if you plan on attending.This invitation also extends to any Polish veterans who might be interested. I hope that you will join us for this third annual celebration of one of the 20th century’s great leaders – a saint who was an inspiration not only for Poles and Catholics, but for all humanity. Following the monthly meeting at Branch 20 in Toronto, on February 12, 2017, some of the PCA Head Executive Board members stayed late to welcome a group of 2nd generation Polish-Canadians who braved a snowstorm to visit the Branch 20 museum and plant a kiss on the cheek of Zbigniew Gondek, VM, 1st VP. The group photo was taken in front of the Lwow tapestry while the 2nd photo shows Treasurer Henryk Sokolowski addressing the group in front of the museum.

Great location. Where in central Toronto can you find a fabulous venue like this. Fully air-conditioned, beautiful wooden floor, and with free parking. Can't beat this.

This is an excellent location for parties and celebrations. Elegant Hall with a stage and a lot of room to dance, have a buffet or entertain guests by performing arts. Highly recommended
