This was my first year at Ottawa Comicon. Previously I had been to a Hero and Villain fanfest. I found the experience very overwhelming but I had fun. Got a chance to meet Megan Fellows who was so nice. The food options weren't great.a bit of variety would be nice but the one thing I think I was disappointed with was the Star Trek panel. Maybe because I didn't realize it was about a book..but a book written about people who really didn't seem to know alot about Star Trek. Probably why when they asked if anyone had questions only one person got up. No one else seemed interested or felt the need. Regardless it was a fun day and I'm excited to be back on Sunday.

The food tent is a disaster. There are not enough vendors and lines going every which way with no coordination or even clue of what you’re lining up for when you get in.
There needs to be more organization or even a potentially larger space for the food vendors.response / report this review -

I have been going for several years with a great variety of guests, big and small, this year they clearly didn’t plan for the popularity of Jason Momoa as the Photo Ops were a total mess. I was extremely disheartened to hear one of the Volunteers announce to a crowd that had been lined up for well over an hour that “if you aren’t paying for an autograph we don’t have time for you” and “there will be no time for autograph personalization” despite the $100 fee per autograph!

Really enjoyed this place. Seemed to be well laid out and easy to get around. The main food tent seemed to be a bit confusing to most people that were waiting (one line for four food trucks). But I did not find it terrible. The indoor food places were pretty quick and had pretty decent food.

Awesome as always! It's great for kids too. Having a vip pass is worth it. The only thing I would say is there needs to be more food options. But other than that, fun fun!

This year was a little disappointing. This is the fourth year I've come. It's starting to get very expensive and a lot of displays charged for photos. I'm glad the majority of them went to charities, but some donation asks were high. I loved having Matthew Lewis and Madeline Petsch there. But other than that I found the guests the most disappointing this year. (Not a doctor who fan)
The vendors are hard to maneuver and they're repetitive. It was also hard to find certain things. Your admission fee should include more things. What I did like was that the guests offered selfies at the autograph booth. I never like the photo ops, I find them over exposed and have an ugly background so I loved this option. I noticed much more selfies this year than the past. Please keep that option!response / report this review -

I've been attending since the first one in 2012, and the charm has been wearing off. This year and last year I only went on Saturday, as I found the fan-run panels were slowly being replaced with celebrity panels since 2015. I'm impressed by the guests that came down, but at the same time not interested in interacting with them.
I just wound up shopping and taking photos, but even photo taking was difficult due to the crowds. I know the con can't control the amount of people, but it seems strange that the food stands were moved outside to give more room for the Artist Alley and celebrities, but it still felt cramped.response / report this review -

First and last time. Super crowded and super expensive. It was so crowded it was difficult to enjoy anything. I brought my two girls who are avid Doctor who fans. All the Who stuff was cool, but un-attainable cost wise. The girls were star struck to see Capaldi from across the room. Once you pay for your $60 photo ( which ends up being over $80 with tax and admin fee) you can't afford much else for two kids. They had their celeb pic with Jenna Coleman and were thrilled. "Best 10 seconds of my life" said my 9 year old. Our pic was done very well un-like some of the others who complained. I was very happy with it. Just seemed like such a money grab around every turn. If comiccon is this popular, they need a bigger venue for sure.

It's alright for half a day. They have lots of exhibitors and some big name guests. But the "food court" was a huge disappointment because it was poorly thought out. It would have been nice if the space was designed with proper lines and stanchions to corral customers.

It was fine this year. Didn't mind parking on the grass lot as they had a bus shuttling back and forth. Was a little disappointed in pricing all around, was smart to bring our own food. Glad I also got early bird 3-day tickets. The guests were great! Vendors must be paying a lot for tables to gouge prices that much. I will be more careful with buying tickets if we go next year. It might not be worth it.

I love the guests they get each year. I also really enjoy the Q&As, especially ones by funny guests like John Barrowman. Outside the Q&As and the Masquerade I find the programing not as interesting, but I am generally going for the guests. It was weird that the Masquerade was in the middle of the day this year. I also found there was less food options than normal and they were hard to find this year, and this is why my rating is lower. The guests this year were especially great!

First time going to Ottawa comiccon, did not appreciate having to pay for parking, especially since ticket price is high and you end up spending hundreds more once inside.
No place to sit when you want to eat, had to eat on the floor like a dog. Also very little variety (literally only fries and processed sandwiches) and the variety is over priced.
Guests were decent and the panels were ok, I found it easy to get bored. Would be nice to have things to do while waiting - video game stations (demos) would be great, live shows for entertainment, ESports for popular games like overwatch, league of legends etc. Where people can create a team to play and it be broadcasted on a large screen.
Not worth a 3 day pass and VIPs get screwed over, they should have priority to everything and not just a select few.response / report this review -

We traveled from Nova Scotia to come to Comic-Con and had a fantastic experience! Lots to see and do, everyone was extremely nice to us and as far as we could tell, it was well organized. 10/10 would Comic-Con again!

This isn't my first con or even Comicon. I will right out admit I prefer my Anime con's to Comicon's, Otakuthon being my top one in the area. That being said Montreal Comicon is in the SAME venue as Otakuthon and it shows. The place they chose is the Palais Des Congres so it well situated. On top of a metro line, Chinatown right near by so good food and cheaper merchandise (same stuff really you'll find at the con.) and better run. Not to mention Parking, ya it mores expensive but there's a tone more. So if you have to drop stuff of at your car you don;t have to walk to a field, pay the same amount apparently, and walk back to the Con.
Yes Comicon I understand will be more of a money grab, but why is the quality especially Ottawa's pretty much garbage? Don;t u wanna give the BEST experience because in the end this is a business and you want clientele back?
Anime con's are volunteer operated and you can feel people are there to have fun. You pay less, unless you wanna attend a separate even like the dance or concert (which btw is cheaper then a Comicon photo op).
And I know a lot of you will pointed out "they need to get payed some how" well Anime con's use their founds to PAY THEM to come. Why can't Comicon? Instead they put the full price onto the attendees.
So in the end all I am trying to say is, parking sucks, food, sucks (except for that chip stand) the panels where giant advertisements, the place chosen is a disaster because when you put panels in a tent in the back, your out of room genius, and the stars keep canceling. Yes i understand life does happen, but when its more then once and you replace it with others who bring in less excitement, you need to reevaluate the people you ask to come in the first place.response / report this review -

So excited to be going will be my first time ever. I'll have about 50 free Crimson Lake t-shirts to pass out, a web series I am working on and should have a very well known horror icon helping crowdfund and get a role if I can hit the kickstarter amount.. Hoping **Jerry** will take a few at my photo p[. ;)

This was my second experience at Ottawa Comiccon and I've enjoyed it very much! The staff was friendly and helpful, the guest list was amazing and the Q&As was funny and informative. You can be sure I'll be there next year!

Hi! I know this is a long shot but I'm trying anyway. I was at the comicon this weekend and I had with me an obituary of a friend that was in my backpack. Unfortunately I cannot find it anymore and I was wondering if I lost it at the EY center. The name on the obituary is Melanie Gendron, who passed away in February. If anyone saw it can you please, please contact me it would mean the world to me. Thank you.

Ottawa Commiccon was a blast. I was very happy to meet George Romero and for my first ever visit to this type of event I was enthralled. The food services were not very good and there very few places to rest but overall I was very happy and I got what I was looking for with my Romero autograph and picture with him.

Just to clarify for the people who think I am biased, I was UNPAID Staff so I did this for free, was not hired by comic con so had nothing to so with them. Still everyone and every thing was amazing. It was my first Con ever and was not disappointed. So many panels that were so mesmerizing to watch. Loved seeing Matthew Lewis the most, huge harry potter fan. Defently would do it again and forever. Best weekend of my life. A nerds paradise!

I love this con, but I was a bit disappointed that buying the VIP pass wasn't really worth it. Only getting to jump the line for 3 guests doesn't seem worth ALL that extra money. But still honestly, my favourite con in the extended area, otherwise very well organized.
