Dr. Hayward is the only vet I trust with my rats. He is so gentle and knowledgeable and you can tell he loves what he does.

Dissappointed my dog had surgery and I asked for his ears to be tested they were not . They tattooed in a ear that was not cleaned that I asked to be tested sent home no pain meds . My dog had complications from his neuter I called them they never called me I told them off my concerns. Still no call back.
. Ended up at the emergency clinic all night with my dog in distress from a serious ear infection and his neuter. When I called them to let them know I went to the emergency vet . The response was alittle pain for the dog.
When the vet finally one week later Called me back dr Hayward blamed me and my breed of dog for the issues . Dr Hayward said giving pain meds was a price gouge from other vets . My dog was in extreme pain had to be muzzled and held down at the emergency vet to swab his ear which I had asked to be done two days previously at his neuter. My dog is on the mend now thanks to the emergency vet for prescriptions of pain meds and prednisone and ear antibiotics. I do not recommend nanaimo vet at all .don't go to dr Hayward he needs to retire hes very rude. . And my name was on the data base till yesterday I had them transfer to island vet to Ken Langalier who likes rottweiler s. And germansheppard s .and doesn't believe that all rottweiler s and sheppard s are bred wrong and they are bad dogs .

Finally a Team You can Trust. A very professional group of Dr's and Support Staff. It is definitely a group of people who care about animals, their health & wellbeing. Definitely not a "boutique" clinic, this is serious medical care with a Huge amount of compassion and information for the owner. Follow up calls from the Dr's are the norm, they definitely understand the important role of animals in our lives. Unlike some other places, you will Never feel emotionally or financially extorted after a visit. The Support Staff is amazingly efficient and go out of their way to help you find any information that you need to give your pet the best care possible. Costs are reasonable and if ongoing treatments are required they are very willing to explain the options available and the costs that may be involved. No surprises! With all of the Professional service there are Always warm Smiles and the feeling of being among friends during your visit. A busy office,so appointments are necessary but they do their best to accommodate your schedule. I definitely recommend them.

The older male doctor there is crap. He is tough with your animals, she when you try to. Peak to your pet to console it, he speaks back to you rudely. I said sorry to my cat and told her it would be over soon, she he retorted with, "why are you apologizing to her? I'm the one that got hissed at!" and he wasn't even remotely joking.

When asked about her weight gain, I was told that was what happens to old cats. A few weeks later she had urination issues, so we took her to a vet in Qualicum who says that the UTI and weight gain were pre-diabetic symptoms.

I think the old guy, who boasted that he went to vet school in the 1980s, just wanted my cat to die so he didn't have to deal with her anymore.

If you have rats or any type of small animal Dr.Hayward is the best person to go to extremly reasonable price( for medication and the exam.. cost me less then just the exam fee at other vets) and really knows about the rats and went above what other vets do to help me with mine, i have tried many vets for my boys and they all need to look online to tell me information that i already know and charge unreasonable prices deffinalty recomed this vet!

Dr. Brett Hayward has been my veterinarian for nearly 14 years. I trust him entirely with my senior dog. He is very good with animals and cares a great deal about their well being. Him and his staff are very deserving of 5 stars!

If you have medical problems with your animals in Nanaimo B.C. The Nanaimo Veterinary Hospital should be your first choice.
I have had several small dogs over the years and have also dealt with many of the other veterinary doctors in Nanaimo. Without a doubt Dr. Hayward and his entire staff are caring, friendly, compassionate and above all very professional. I have dealt with many of the doctors in this clinic and found them to be super friendly and professional. I can not praise this clinic enough. To give you an example of the caring and compassion of this clinic a couple of years ago I had to euthanize one of my lovely dogs. Of course I was extremely upset at having to do that to one of my dogs who I cared for so deeply. A few days later a got a lengthy hand written sympathy note in the mail, from the doctor in question, which was very comforting. Now to me that is exceptional profession service. All the vets I have encounter in this clinic are caring and respectful. Even the boss (manager) of the officeKaren.
I have recommended this veterinary clinic to numerous people since I started using them and I will continue to do so. They are the best by far.
Thank you Nanaimo Veterinary Hospital for all your kindness to my pal Jack.
