We use many pieces of equipment with small engines at LETY Construction- from tampers to jackhammers to gas-powered pressure washers. And now, thanks to Jeff’s initiative, we will be able to repair and maintain these in-house. He started at NAIT last night taking Small Engine Basics and working towards the Introduction to Small Engine Mechanics certificate. Good luck Jeff!

At the heart of a ranch is a barn and an arena, and sometimes that arena requires a little maintenance.
LETY Construction was called to repair the concrete corners of the arena at Still Meadows Ranch. While there, Brad and Jeff waterproofed the grade beam and installed insulation to provide a barrier to vapour intrusion. They enjoyed the peace and quiet of Still Meadows- but we're not sure that Still Meadows enjoyed the noise of the necessary concrete cutting! The crew worked quickly though, ensuring minimal disruption to riders and horses before cleaning up, packing up, and moving on to the next job!

Certain foundation issues require an engineered solution, including an underpinning project LETY Construction completed on Edmonton’s #WhyteAve.
This building was structurally compromised and required underpinning to realign the wall and provide support. Working with our client and his engineer, LETY Construction installed helical piers (also known as screw piles) along the wall, followed by brackets to allow for lift. Once the weight of the structure was transferred onto the piles, and the wall was lifted back into place, vertical steel beams were added to provide additional stability to the wall. A thorough clean-up followed before our crew packed up and moved on to the next job!

Today marks eight years since our head Waterproofing Technician Anson joined the LETY Construction team. He’s our customer service king and foundation crack repair guru, and we’re grateful for his attention to detail, reliability, sense of humour, and dedication to client service!
“The work that appeals to me most is foundation crack injections, because the results are immediate and I enjoy working with my clients to ensure they understand the process. The best part is the handshakes and smiles I receive when I’ve completed a repair, and knowing that I’ve resolved the problem!”
In his spare time, Anson is an avid fly fisherman and musician. He coaches hockey, baseball, and club soccer, and loves to travel- something he’s done extensively in the Caribbean where his family roots derive from.

Q. Is there a difference between damp-proofing and waterproofing? A. Yes!
Damp-proofing is the minimum code. For the first few years it will slow- not stop - the penetration or water through your foundation. It will not bridge shrinkage cracks that may occur and it will not protect your foundation, and by extension your basement, long-term.
Waterproofing a foundation is done by spraying an elastomeric membrane onto the exterior of the foundation. This membrane stops water from penetrating the concrete, even under hydrostatic pressure. Not only will an elastomeric membrane stop water, it also has the ability to span foundation shrinkage cracks, ensuring your basement is completely protected.
