We went to the buffet today for the large variety, and seafood chowder, but was disappointed to see no chowder, and the variety that we paid for has lessened, very disappointed as the size and variety has got less the price has gone up from $30 to $35 per person Too expensive for what we was their to choose from, consistency is what brings people back!!! Very Disappointing.

I come to the Island frequently to visit my parents and our special treat is to enjoy the brunch at the Kingfisher restaurant. Over the last few times, our expectations of a 30 dollar a plate buffet have been disappointing and left us with the realization that the quality can not justify the price. The lacklustre array of cold salads, marinated and pickled seafoods and slim pickings of desserts forces us to seek a new favourite.Too bad as it used to be so good.

This restaurant was billed as something special, and though we were greeted and seated promptly, there were curiously long absences from wait staff visits to the table. No bread to keep us busy while waiting. Bought their highest point Pinot Noir which was a disappointment, a BC wine without much body. We had beet carpaccio which was presented beautifully, served with blanched and lightly pickled red onion and aioli sauce and sauteed goat cheese, an evening special which would do well to be on the menu. A second appetizer was duck proscuitto and and roasted duck meat. The proscuitto was fantastic while the roast pieces were a bit dry. The confi served with them was wonderful and elevated the dish to acceptable standards on my palate.
Dinner was shared, a steamed basket of fresh seafood with crab and shrimp cakes as a side. While fresh, the entre was not very flavorful, though the cakes kind of carried it all through to being acceptable. Price was fair and if I didn't know of another place to eat around here, I would dine here again.
