  Here are some finished shots of the 90's Reno we started a few weeks ago.. In this home we did, radius arches, applied picture frame panel walls, raised panel wainscoting on the main and second floor hallways, as well as stairwell paneling, cool job.. Never spent so much time bending trim and MDF in my life.. Tuned out awesome though @ Markham, Ontario

  Here is the first finished area, well 95% finished, did a bit if sanding after these pics, but I think this turned out great!! This has been a cool challenging job with all wainscoting on the round walls, with the door jambs having the radius cut into the tops of the door jamb tops,. There will be more pictures of the stair case and the main floor once they have been finished in the next day or two.. @ Markham, Ontario

  Sometimes you want to upgrade the look of your house with wainscotings or panel walls. These can be quite costly! An alternative is to use applied mouldings on the wall to create the look of wainscoting or wall paneling, with a much more cost effective price.. We can do both and offer many different options and styles.. feel free to dm us if you have any projects in mind.. There are also a few pics of our radius topped arches, we were working in last week. We had to use mdf casing to finish these off, as the casing provided for this job was a finger joint pine casing, which can't be dampened because the joints fail, and is pretty crispy so just snaps.. The mdf made if possible to flex to these radiuses, with gentle persuasion. I also dont like the flexible casing options available in plastic (or what ever the rubbery plastics material they sometimes come as), no do I like snake ply casing, as it is very rough looking with the ply seperation in outside bends. We also glued the casing too the jambs, because there is quite a bit of energy stored in these casing tops, I wouldn't want them to ever have the chance of breaking, @ Markham, Ontario

  This was super cool to do!!! I have been using Instagram for about a year now, I have learned and seen people do some cool stuff I have seen people do this a few times, and yes maybe I work have figured it out on my own, but my "leg up" came from here

  I knew exactly what to do in this situation, I had to do a bit of math to figure out my radius to determine how to mount my router and pivot point. Once I had my radius and the router was set up, I did an initial shallow cut to break the surface of the mdf, then I set the router about a 1/4" deeper until I totally cut the shape After that was cut I used my edge guide on the router to cut the other side of the jamb

  I remember early in my career someone telling me about a room like this hallway, at the time I couldn't comprehend how this would be possible. I love the challenge to do something that I once thought was impossible

  There will be a lot more pics in the next few weeks of this mid 90's subdavision home reno. We are doing these beauts, we have doors with the round on the other side of the jamb, we have wainscoting following the radius of the walls, we have a full staircase paneling feature, applied picture mouldings in the living room and dining room, as well as doors and base/shoe mould.. @ Markham, Ontario

  I love the smell of cedar!! Love cutting and working with it, this is just a small job I did this past weekend with t&g cedar, I was asked to match the lines of outside, I think it looks cool actually and would use it hopefully in a future home of my own @ Toronto, Ontario

  This was a cool job we recently tied up in Rosedale neighborhood. We didn't do anything too over the top on this job, but it had its challenges This home is a renovated home that dates back to the early 1900's. This home did not get a full gut job, so there were areas of the home with lath and plaster still on the walls. The floors were out of level here and there, as anyone who also works on old renovation homes knows, they can be a pain. I have the pleasure of working on high-end homes with wainscotings, and feature walls, etc But some of these old houses with just trim and doors can be just as much work as a fancy new home. In this one we were ripping door jambs on angles with the @makitatools track saw, to match the crazy inconsistent wall widths.. After all that time spent fighting the old home to make it pretty, it turned out very nice.. We only did the trim and doors, but I was amazed with the overall finish of the home.. It does feel like a new home.. Love my job and seeing homes go from ruin to show stopper!! @ Rosedale, Toronto

  Yet another one almost finished!!! This past week a few projects are fully cleaning up for us, at this stage in the house we are doing door hardware, and shoe mouldings or in the homes with scribed baseboards like this one, aw well as finishing any trim around cabinets, and any final details.. I love getting the chance to basically see the fully finished home, this @bigeastconstruction beauty was a definate gem.. I really love the style that this home boasted in such bold and beautiful touches @ Kempenfelt Bay

  Always nice to see my work all painted up.. this was a job I did this past fall/winter, which technically is still on going.. the last few pictures are of an paneled archway.. I would have loved to had the crown along the top of the archway, but the proportions didn't work.. my customer wanted max height and width, she also wanted certian proportions in the style and rail sizes, with a good sized inset.. so given all of these requests I plus the fact of a faux beam in the kitchen, and future cabinets that will be fastened to one side of the kitchen side of the arch. I had to abandon the crown moulding on the top. I think it turned out pretty decently, scribes to wall and beam was tight. I'm happy with the outcome. There will be more work at this house in the future, we have already talked about multiple projects. @ Barrie, Ontario

  I always love seeing our work with paint on it!! This job has been an ongoing job for way too long. We've been in and out of here since last October!! But it looks incredible, and the paint job is too drawer quality. @ Nobleton, Ontario

  Here are a couple finished shots of the faux timber beams we did for @bigeastconstruction , I am super happy with how they turned out.. it was an interesting challenge, and due to the shapes and sizes very little of it was able to be have been pre assembled. They look different with color on them, I would have preferred to see them with a clear coat to keep the pine character dominate. I do understand why they are the color they are, it matches the colours of the white oak flooring, and because this cottage is so modern the clear coated knotty pine may have been out of place.. @ Kempenfelt Bay

  Well I was able to keep my promise I didn't post pics of the beams until they were done!! It was quite q feat to say the least,.

  We wanted to work on a level plane to start with so we began working from the top down.. firstly we set a square edge around everything using a combination of levels, laser levels, chalk lines, string lines, jack screws (thanks @hemlercarpentry for the proper terminology), and blocks (to build up voids for solid nailing spots and places for pl premium globs.)

  Once we had a solid level surface to build and fasten to, we began at the ceiling building our boxes and worked our way down. We used pl premium on our build-up blocks, then tite bond glue to glue our beams together then we put a couple nails to align out reveals properly, then we clamp the living s@#t out of the beams until they are set solid!! And when I say solid, these beams are way stronger then they were before!!

  It was a cool job, a ton more work then I could have imagined!! I'm happy with how it turned out and will flood my feed for a couple of days with pics of the stain and paint as it is being finished.. we literally were finishing the beams as the stain and paint guys came to start working.. it was kinda wacked, but that's construction for ya.. @ Kempenfelt Bay

  Anyone want hardwood on the ceiling!?! Looks really nice 7" pre finished white oak.. The last two pictures are just a little glimpse of the faux timber frame ceiling project Everything needs to be 100% level and straight!!! So we have been using a combination of laser level, and string lines to keep everything straight and true.. I used a method I learned off Instagram from @insider_carpentry where I saw him use screws as shims for window sills.. brilliant!! If you're not following him give him a follow!! I have used his technique to create a level straight plane to fasten my beams and posts to.. I set two screws at either end of the beams, these screws are level and straight to my reference points, then I run string lines from one end to the other, then set screws all along the length of the beams to the string line.. after that I build up the centers to just below my screw heights, hit these spots with a dab if adhesive so it squishes down when I put my pieces up to them When the adhesive dries the beams and posts are solid!! More finished pictures to come !! I will try not to show the whole ceiling til it's done!! Try!! @ Kempenfelt Bay

  Here's a little sneek peak of some beam work we are doing at our current @bigeastconstruction job. The material we used was rough sawn knotty pine 1" by 8". It is a bit of a different story working with rough inconsistent material like this, but with every challenge is a learning experience. I think it looks pretty good thus far, we will be doing the trusses in the great room next!!! Looking forward to finished pictures! @ Kempenfelt Bay

  Up coming project this year within the next month or so for @bigeastconstruction. 7500 sqft + basement, 40+ door, feature ceilings, and modern trim. Of course on the water, with a swimming pool too boot. Love doing these types of jobs!!!!
