Parking was expensive. Only bad thing I have to say.
Super friendly staff, very accommodating, huge rooms, super cheap, they lock the main doors at night so you don't have to be scared of sketchy people coming in and out.

I booked 2 nights at the Hotel Royal Plaza in Winnipeg this past weekend for myself and my boyfriend.

First night, I found out that no guests are allowed after 9pm after seeing a small sign by the stairs. I had a friend who had to leave because they were not permitted inside.
The next morning, my boyfriend was coming from his family's house, after spending time with them because his dad had passed away recently, and they would not allow him up to our room. It was daytime so there is no reason why anyone should not be permitted inside the hotel, especially my boyfriend who paid for the room. I was sound asleep so they could not get a hold of me to confirm that we were together so he was forced to wait around until I saw my 8 missed calls.
I was really dissapointed in the treatment he was given. It lead me to think that because he is black and I am white, that they thought we were not together. That's the only conclusion I can make.

A word of advice to the hotel, if you have strict visiting rules, please know who are the guests and who are your paying customers.

I have no other complaints, as everything else about the room and ammentities were good.

Nice staff, clean rooms. Very affordable rooms, has an atmosphere of a nicer college dorm basically, there is a nightclub downstairs however on the weekend and some rooms you can hear the bass until they shut down. Overall good if you need an inexpensive room in the area.
