The sushi was unexpectingly amazing. Some dishes were also unexpectingly spicier than I thought. Dining was a bit dim -- only the center of our table was partially lit. Overall seemed dim in general. Atmosphere was very ambient though. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable of other places around town when we asked for suggestions.

I've had food from here several times now and feel compelled to write a quick review.

The sushi isn't on par with the price they're charging, hard/old rice is used and while the rolls have original flavours they lack the proper execution.

The food is overhyped and expensive for what it is, you're better off going to The Keg or even Ricky's because at least then the food matches the atmosphere.

The drinks are decent, nothing special about them but I've had worse. Wait staff is average, probably won't return however as it isn't worth the money when you can go elsewhere and get the same experience for less.

Absolutely amazing.
We had sushi and sashimi. This is the best place on the island we tried so far. Quite different, but super duper awesome.

Just go here, don't even think about it.

Also, service is amazing.

Great food, and excellent service. The best kids meal we've ever had. It's rare to find even a moderately upscale place that knows how to cater to families, but the firehouse grill did an excellent job. One star off for the sushi being a bit overpriced, and my fish and chips being not as crispy as I like.

We had an awesome dinner there tonight. I had the black and blue pasta, my husband had the fish and chips, our friends had a variety of sushi, and a good time was had by all. The service was good, food was really delicious, and the building itself is a lovely old thing.

The food here was very good and I loved their sushi as well as their burgers and sandwiches. However the thin that made our visit special was our super friendly and funny waitress! She made our experience great! Thanks!

Went to Naniamo on a work trip and was recommended to go to Firehouse Grill. It's in a brick building which is supposedly an old firehouse. It has an excellent atmosphere with lots of exposed brick inside and a craft beer pub feel with a family friendly vibe. A large group of us went and got great service, and everyone really enjoyed the food. I would definitely recommend this place!

One of my all time favorite restaurant in Nanaimo. The building has so much character. The staff is friendly and has a great knowledge of the menu. The food is fresh and delicious. They present everything so beautifully. Great place for a drink and a sushi roll or a full meal with a group! This is the perfect spot for a date night or girls night out!

Atmospherical place. Perfect for a dinner date. We hat halibut and steak, both was cooked on point and very delicious. Great selection of cocktails and craft beers. Fancy desserts and friendly service.

LOVE the sushi at Firehouse. The Chef's obviously love what they do and take creativity in their dishes. Leave it up to the Chef's and get the sushi chef's platter and I have never been disappointed. Great eat in or take away meals.

Varied and interesting menu with sophisticated selections. Enticing desserts. Sushi is very good. Not wheelchair accessible, but it is a landmark heritage building that has been fully restored. Parking on street or in the pay lot across the road. Two stories inside and comfortable booths. Good for lunch, with a view to the harbour.
