Great Italian food and a chill atmosphere. Good place for drinks and pasta with friends.

My husband and I visited last weekend and were so happy with the food and service. The waitress was so nice and friendly and the pizza was amazing. We also had the calimari and it was the best calimari I have ever had! 5+ stars

Short summary - Location: excellent, food: dated, blend and flavourless, service: don't expect much.
located in Yorkville, right in the centre of it all, which means you could go to another place for drinks after dinner. (thats the positive side of this review).
Food: we had pasta, fish and a shared starter - all of which was pretty disappointing, I expected a lot more from something on Yorkville and Italian - it's dated and flavourless, pasta was suppose to be a truffle pasta, but there was zero hint of truffle in the pasta, Fish was just the end tail piece which was pretty dry, drinks were also done pretty poorly.
Service: we had to wait for a pretty long time to get our "fresh" bread, which was actually cold to the touch and from the taste of things, old. things took a long time to arrive at the table (40+m) and by the time the food got there, we had really high expectations for it all, but unfortunately that went short lived.response / report this review -

SO disappointing! 4 of us came here because a friend recommended it as one of the only good places in Yorkville, saying it’s run by a family so they really are great with service and quality —> far from true. Every detail of this place is stuck back in how restaurants used to be a decade ago. Basic things like the bread being dry and cold would make any Italian stand up and leave right away. The “truffle” fettuccini came cold, with zero taste, let alone a truffle taste. We also tried the “halibut special”, which again was just a lukewarm piece of tail. Risotto was equally disappointing. Their food would be alright if it was $10 a plate (since that’s the quality and freshness of ingredients they use, and the portion size), but expect to spend a good $60 plus tax, tip & drinks per person.

Went later at night and was very disappointed with the service. Our waitress didn't seem to know anything about the food or drinks menu, was very disorganized and the staff seemed annoyed at all their customers. The only saviour was that the food (pizza and risotto) were amazing!

Love this spot. Staff is super friendly and welcoming. They are always so busy after 6 which speaks for itself. Fresh and simple Italian food and the bar makes great drinks. Very nice outdoor patio in the front and the side ally. I always look forward to seeing Cosmos smile. And Raymond is a sweetheart.

A special occassion kind of meal, is what we always come here for. I know, I know - the privileged ones of Toronto come here regularly, so, for us mere mortals - Dimmi's is special. The food is so good!

The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is nice. The food is less than mediocre. The pizza tasted like frozen pizza from the grocery store, same with the caprese salad. If your quality won't beat what I can find from a quick trip at the grocery store, then you should not charge $$ for it.

We love coming here, welcoming and comfortable. Wear what you want. Waiter and manager(s) were extremely friendly even given the busy Saturday night. Line up out the door and we were not being rushed. Food is great. Perfect servings. Been here a handful of times and always am under the same impression. Will be back. Thanks for great food and great service.

I had a pretty nice time here! The manager was really welcoming - The only thing I would recommend is to hold off on the servers from pushing you, (I felt like I was being rushed a bit). Other than that, delicious meal with decent portions. They definitely didn't skimp on my clams when I was there for the pasta!
