Picking a wedding dress can be an overwhelming experience, but Clara Couture Boutique took a lot of stress of finding the perfect dress. After visiting a few other bigger shops, it was a pleasure to come here. When you make an appointment for a visit, you are Carrie's only customer, so it's a very relaxing experience and you don't feel rushed. After finding the perfect dress the process was very smooth and Carrie was always there to answer any questions that I had along the way. The final alterations worked out very well and the dress looked fantastic on the big day.

Clara Couture is so well known for bridal gowns but they also do wonderful custom work. For many years, Clara and more recently Carrie, have tended to my custom dressmaking. They even made two hats for me! The friendliness and skills of Clara Couture are wonderful. Thank you, Clara and Carrie,

I had an amazing experience in Clara Couture. The representative Carrie is such a nice and patient lady, she always gives me time to consider, and provides awesome advices on how to choose the best gown for me. In addition, she also knows what she's doing, she is such a professional. So I would totally recommend the brides out there to come to Clara Couture! You will find the gown you like.

Terrible customer service. Carrie was the least helpful and rather rude. She was very unwilling to help and show me the dresses I wanted to try. She kept pushing other dresses so I just took the dresses in the fitting room to stop her pushing them to me and insisted to try other dresses I wanted myself, but she said "We'll see if we have time because you only have 1 hr and you spent 15 minutes just looking" !!!!!!
It was 3 pm and I asked "are you closing at 4?!" And she said no but I "might" have other appointment!!!! Well at 3 o'clock you "know" whether you have a 4 o'clock appointment or not!! And I actually stayed for half an hour longer going through other dresses and jewelries without her even talking to me (she just sat at her desk, annoyed) and no one came in. So she basically lies to make you choose your "Wedding dress" in one hour and get rid of you as soon as she can.
She also said they are the only store in Vancouver carrying Pronovias wedding dresses which also is a lie! They actually have rather older and out of style dresses of Pronovias, there is another store which they sell all the new styles of P and have a big variety!response / report this review -

Clara and Carrie were such a pleasure to work with. It was very easy to get in touch with them, regardless of living out of country. They were very accomodating with my availability when I was in town. They were always prepared and made the entire process incredibly easy.
I couldn't have been happier with my dress. I gave them pictures/ideas and they had the experience to run with it. It's amazing that they were able to design a dress for me using only my measurements as I was not there for the initial fitting and consultation.
I would highly recommend anyone who is looking for a custom-made dress to go to Clara and Carrie. They are completely dedicated to their brides. :) Thanks guys!response / report this review -

I saw great reviews here for alterations so decided to get my wedding dress altered here. On my second fitting, there was a bunch of black ink splattered all over the front of my WHITE wedding dress!!!! I gently pointed it out at the end of my visit, and instead of owning up to having stained my dress, the lady blamed ME accusing that i bought a used dress.ah No. My dress was brand new, expensive, and had just been shipped in. Not to mention, if there were black stains initially, she would have noticed and taken note before touching my dress. To try and blame your mistake on the client to prevent yourself from getting in trouble is conniving. Anyway, they ended up fixing it but insisted that they were not stains but rather pieces of fuzz- after they removed the stains. I had taken pictures and really felt the areas and it was mosts definitely black ink stains from the sewing machine. So after they fix it and call it "fuzz" of course then the lady admits that she was worried it was ink stains.
The alteration job at the end was crappymy cups were not sewed in right, they forgot to sew together the under layers like they said they would so my mom had to do it herself the night before the wedding, and they forgot to shorten a main layer so we had to cut it off ourselves unprofessionally.
OH AND watch out with their lighting. I purchased a veil from them thinking it looked white and when i finally took everything home, saw the veil was actually butter yellow. Many people noticed as well and this was the day before my wedding.i went in to see what she can do for me- maybe exchange the veil and she denied the colour of the veil!! She kept saying its "ivory" when anyone would see it is butter yellow.
Also dont purchase accessories from them as they overprice it
(which is pretty much all bridal shops). I gave my ebay bought belts to them as i didnt need them myselfi paid 20$ for each and i doubt they would be resold for that price.
OH and they charged me for steaming my dress after the lady had promised she would have it done for me at the next fittingshe later said it is an extra chargewhen my brand new dress was brought in it was not wrinkled but after they worked on altering it, they wrinkled it. So for me to have to pay for them to unwrinkle the dress they wrinkled is ridiculous.response / report this review -

Carrie and the whole Clara Couture team are absolute stars. I had an (untraditional) wedding dress I wanted altered. I didn't think what I wanted could be done - I knew it would be quite a challenge.

I loved this shop and the woman Carrie working there was so lovely. Although the shop seems small she had a great selection. I tried on some beautiful dresses that she picked out for me and she pinned and clipped them perfectly so I was able to see how they would look when altered. She was so helpful and made the experience wonderful. I would have gone back to purchase a dress but at my final shopping appointment they sold the same dress for 20% when you purchase your first day shopping. I felt a little guilty as I really loved this shop and the lady who worked there, but who could turn down that offer. I would highly recommend Clara Couture to anyone!
