This place sucks. I waited 6hours to meet doctor and he didn't even help me. I was asked the same questions over and over again by many people in different department. It costs me $300 for nothing. The clinic I always go to was more helpful.

This place is a joke. Can't believe our tax dollars pay for this. It should be shut down. Whoever manages it should be fired along with alot of the staff. My mom was taken in under extreme pain and they gave her one dose of pain medication in about 20 hours. Then when I come to pick her up, right as we are about to leave the nurse says "oh by the way you have pneumonia. It could kill you at anytime. But the doctor can't see you til tomorrow." Seriously pathetic service and treatment. Wish I could have told them how I really feel but they would have called the cops on me!

Few day back, I had to have a medical procedure done here. This place made me feel right at home, and were very attentive to my needs. Customer service was spot on and felt very welcomed. Medical staff was wonderful, nothing but smiles and making sure I was comfortable and walked me through every step. Procedure went well, and even the physician came into recovery to check up on me.
Overall a great place to receive your care.

The staff at the Day Surgery unit were attentive, compassionate and caring. I have experienced day stays in Hospitals in different parts of Canada. This was by far one of my most pleasant experiences, considering it was surgery. Keep up the good work.

Never, ever take a child to this hospital! We took our 8 year old daughter in first thing on a saturday morning after she was feeling sick the previous day with a sore stomach and lower abdominal pain. We strongly suspected appendicitis, but the resident 'doctor' did nothing more than a quick push on the belly and then 'diagnosed' her with a 'tummy bug' and sent us home. No ultrasound, no blood test, no urine test, just a quick push on the belly and off you go. The day goes on and she keeps getting worse. We make the mistake of going back to burnaby general around 8:30 pm. We tell them again that we think its her appendix. Many hours later she gets an xray and an ultrasound that they both misread and they still insist it is not her appendix. The 'doctor' after consulting with bc childrens hospital many, many times, finally realizes he doesn't know what to do and decides to send her to bc childrens hospital at 3:00 a.m where she can get real care. After an ambulance ride to bc childrens, she finally gets another ultrasound from a competent tech and..what do you know, its her appendix! After waiting multiple hours for a spot in the O.R. she finally gets in for surgery, more than 40 hours after we first brought her to BGH and telling them it was her appendix, guess whather appendix had burst. What a surprise! What could have been an overnight visit has turned into a week long nightmare and she is still not out of the woods, it could be multiple weeks until she is home and fully recovered. The lack of detail, professionalism and hubris of the staff at BGH is incredible and they are very lucky that this is Canada and not the USA or I am sure they would be involved in many, many malpractice lawsuits. I will never take any family member to BGH ever again. I am disgusted with burnaby general.

To be honestly, I don't want to rate it so low at my first time there. The first time went there with family doctor's letter, everything is good, and help me arrange the come back appointment. But this time, they kept me endless waiting. At the window in the front, three staffs ignored me unless I walked into the door raise their attention. After unwilling registration, I kept waiting until they called me. And they just kept me wait and wait. No even ask me how am I feeling and so on. Pretending I'm not there. Only the long time waiting really frustrated especially when you see so many staffs just chatting around.
Luckily, doctors there are really nice.

Service is bad. Waiting is more than 5 hours . I can not believe that they only have 1 doctore and they have slots of othere staff who are just standing and chatting and not doing anything. And the place is pretty messy not organize.

I was just discharged after a suicide attempt. The doctor did an ex ray of my neck a simple blood test. Ignored my seizure history. I can hardly swallow. The on call psychiatrist say we can't help you and before I new it, was being told I was discharged even after telling him I would attempt it again if sent home. The nurse was cruel, as I was barely able to stand up.
She said, I saw you walk. They look at my frequent visits and never consider that my health and mobility has so terribly gone down hill. It was humiliating. Sent home in a cab with no other stops specified only to cover liability. Seen as alcoholic only. Social workers are robotic. My call for home support has gone unheard. Unable to acquire any food or prepare my meals. Literally starving to death in my apartment. told I'm too young or look to healthy. I understand the whole system is overwhelmed.

I cant say enough great things about my experience here!
I had to bring my 15 month old daughter in on Saturday morning after being advised to do so after visiting our Doctors Office. I was terrified and worried but when we got there they checked us in and took a look at my daughter right away. They moved us to a bed in Emergency and everyone was so fantastic! At one point I think there had to be 10 Doctors and Nurses working with us on my Daughter. There I am an emotional wreck trying to keep it together as they hook my daughter up to an IV, take blood and give her oxygen while I sit there with her in my arms with tears rolling down my face. They did such an amazing job and offered such great care to us both! At one point I think about 6 or 7 nurses asked me if I needed anything, from water to a sandwich to coffee all in a 10 minute time frame!
My favorite nurse was Bree and she was amazing, amazing!!
We were there for 12 hours before needing to be transferred to another hospital due to them not having a Peds unit and I'm so happy we got the care she needed, they were phenomenal! Thanks to everyone!
