A little photo essay about our farm in the Capital Current!
Have you been missing greens this long, dry summer? Come to Beechwood Market tomorrow and pick up some of our tender young kale, zesty mustard greens, and delicious arugula! And buy some for your friends! We'll be there from 9am to 2pm.
Time to put away a little bit of summer to enjoy over the long Ontario winter. We have about 200 pounds of organic sauce tomatoes ready to fill your bulk orders. (No filter needed on these babies - just sunshine.) They will not last too much longer, so contact us now to make your order!
Our tomatoes and potatoes are waiting for you at our farm stand. They're chemical-free and delicious! Come and get some! As a bonus, our friendly dog Onion will greet you when you arrive.
You have not lived until you've had our tomatoes. You have not loved until you've had our cherry tomatoes. Both are on sale right now at our farm stand! Take a drive to our farm gate and pick up your portion of delight.
We're open for business at Beechwood Market today from now until 2pm! We have everything you need. Come to Optimiste Park and say hello!
Great contest! Even better tomatoes! (Can you guess who grew them?)
Our farm stand is OPEN and stocked with our beautiful, delectable tomatoes, straight out of the greenhouse! Come and get some!
A wonderful thunderstorm last night, and more rain coming! This is what we've been hoping for!
Drought conditions prevail, which means: another edition of night farming! We'll wheel our new water rig out to the field at sunset and hand-water our at-risk vegetables. This time, we're trying our luck with these bug hats. The only clouds in the sky last night were swarms of mosquitoes.
Congratulations to The Village Store on your grand opening! You've restored a beautiful space and done a great service to Athens Main Street - not to mention your customers. We'll be there in spirit (off in Ottawa selling vegetables).
Behold!
Ottawa friends! Before you sink into that hammock for the long weekend, come and visit us at Beechwood Market tomorrow morning. And cross your fingers! We're setting off in a truck that MIGHT break down on the way
Add this picture to "Things You Find While Weeding Carrots." It'll make a great complement to that other folder: "Things I've Hurt Myself On." Don't forget to come and see us at Beechwood Market this Saturday! Athens and Brockville folks: the farm stand is opening up again soon!
A great week for Bramble Lea Farm: we kicked off our local CSA, and tomorrow we'll be at Beechwood Market to see our Ottawa friends!
We'll be at Beechwood Market starting June 16th! Beat the tariffs on greens - or whatever - and enjoy some winning personalities.
Long time no post! We are still here!
May has been a taskmaster. And with only two people working, that means long days. (Our daughter Lulu, who can now open doors, has also made sure we've had early mornings, too)
Say hello to some new additions to the farm: our new Farm Fleet potato planter-hiller-digger, our new pump house, and Sticks, Bricks, and Straw, our pigs! ("Training-wheel" pigs, as John calls them.) Thanks to the generosity of Leading Edge Overhead Doors, we built them a comfy range house out of insulated door panels.
The new pump house is going up! Last year, knowing nothing about such matters, we built a tiny hut over the well and installed an undersized pump. Not this time! This is a permanent, crawl-free zone.
John and Melissa have been outstanding at providing nourishment to the beechwood community at the farmer's market this year. They have an incredible array of produce available and you know they care about what they're growing when can consistently purchase fruits and vegetables at their most vibrant and ripest point of growth. They're fair in their prices, honest, giving, and all around welcoming. What more can you ask for in your farmer?!
Just bought some of your cookies! Almost eaten all
Great produce and lovely people to deal with! Support your local organic farmers!
The people that own the farm are hard workers and we highly recommend buying from them.
Everything looks fantastic -- I try and buy all my produce now from fresh vendors.
Keep up the great work.
