I used to go to Barakat @ Western Rd only because it is closer to where I live. The food there is great but I always have to suffer the long line up and I feel like the portion size is getting smaller every year. Today, I decided to order the same thing I always order, Tony's special, at this downtown place and have it delivered to my house for roughly $5 extra (3 for delivery + 2 for driver's tip). Not only the driver who delivered my food was super friendly and smiley, but also the food portion is nothing compare to the Barakat @ Western Rd. It was huge and you can tell this before even opening the container because the container itself is bigger! I would say there was about 1.5x more of everything (hommos, garlic, veggies, rice & shawarma chicken). And of course, the food was awesome!

Fantastic place, I come here often. They just did a beautiful expansion and renovation to add even more seating! Food is delicious and they just added manakeesh (Mediterranean pies) to their menu which are delicious :)

I guess when you are popular customer service doesn't matter. Super rude staff asked twice for no hot sauce on. Child's shawarma still put it on. First and last time Pita Plus waaaaaayyyyy better

Best Mediterranean cuisine I've ever had! Everything is very flavorful. Freshly made. Huge portions. Reasonable prices. I wish they had a whole wheat pita option.

I did not have a positive experience in my most recent visit to Barakat on August 25, 2017. Upon entering the store at noon (under heavy renovations) the interior of the restaurant was in utter disarray with construction materials strewn about the store and dust and debris also on the ground. One of the employees had to come from behind the counter to clear a path while customers were lining up. After the path was cleared for people to place their orders and the first couple of people had done so I stepped up to order. I asked for a beef shawarma and the person taking my order walked away for a minute or two and returned to tell me they did not have beef. Normally this would be fine and I would have just ordered chicken, but upon looking at the dinning spit of chicken in the back it was apparent that the chicken was not cooked yet when it was being cut for prior customers. I declined to order but was with another coworker that was extremely hungry and wanted to eat so she ordered a chicken shawarma poutine. I decided that the cluttered store was getting crowded I would wait outside. I went outside and was there waiting for over 25 minutes. The utter lack of organization or preparation at Barakat was really disappointing as I really enjoy their food. Due to this experience however it will be some time before I consider them for a lunch break or dinner option.

The one close to western is better than this place. Food quality is not as good as compare to other Barakats, rather gone to Barakat at western.

My coworker and I get Barakat monthly as a treat. We get the rice with chicken, with hummus and garlic on the side, and eat it with their pitas. So delicious. It's always consistently good. The pitas are fresh, and the meal is a good sized helping. We take it to go, but service is a good speed. It gets really busy in there around lunch time. Great location. The tables inside are clean.

Free parking available. Online ordering and delivery available. In car pickup available. Food is good. Price is similar to other Arabic food places. Juice here is not so good. Only 3 stars because it takes too long to prepare food.

The food is so delicious and they are doing a great job when they have many customers coming in at once .. However, I would really prefer the people who are making sandwiches pay more attention to how people would like their sandwiches since sometimes I see them ignoring what is being said and be aggressive .. Overall, it exceeds the expectations.. One more thing, are fountain refills free ?

Go almost weekly. Food is always fresh and healthy and has been since it opened. Options for vegans, vegetarians and people who love meat are available.Staff are nice. I know what to expect here and i have been eating here over 10 yrs.

Visited with family last weekend. Showed up with about 9 people and started placing confusing orders. They were patient with us and even recommended a large family platter to save money, instead of individual plates. That was a nice gesture and much appreciated. Service was great and food was absolutely amazing. Thank you!
