I mean is there anything better than a Clear Western Red Cedar soffit? ⚓️ This will look sharp, stay tuned for the finished product, MDF extera panelling to be wrapped around those juicy LVLs ⚓️ Shout out to all the other immigrants building 🇳🇿🇨🇦

Anybody used this Camo hidden fastener set up before? ⚓️ It works legit even on the end of season cedar , helps with getting an even reveal and no gnarly chalk lines ⚓️ It does use trim head screws so maybe not as much purchase as the old epoxy #8 but I’m happier than a hawk looking out an onion sack with this so far ⚓️

By far my favourite tool of the last year has to be the @dewalt_ca cordless 18g ⚓️ Of course it dosnt pack as much jandle as the pneumatic 18g but what it lacks in Clydesdale it makes up for in versatility ⚓️ I hate dragging around air hoses and this makes the perfect substitute ⚓️ I can get most of the way through one trim job without changing battery and a nail only gets stuck every few hundred rounds which is not to bad for an 18 🎶 American Steel ⚓️

We cannot stress enough the importance of mitre clamps and tite bond glue • If you are like us and aim for zero tolerance these two simple tools that when used right do the majority of the work • Pin the header, set your reveal , glue the mitre, pin the leg at the top to the jamb , clamp closed the mitre and let the glue set for 20 mins then you can pin the leg on and you will be grinnin like a horse eatin thistles

Nothing like the sweet smell of my second home when cutting Western Red Cedar • Building some cedar exterior doors • Dadoed and routered our the hanging stiles, top rail, bottom rail and the lock rail today • That’s enough for today #selfemployed
