What we're looking for in a foster home for Trigger: • Someone experienced with large, powerful dogs. • Someone who is willing to take the time to teach him basic manners. He likes to give out hugs but doesn't realize his 💪 • Preferably a home with no other pets so he can focus on building those relationships on his own terms. • Someone who is able to properly socialize/introduce him to other animals, strangers and new environments. • An active person! Meet Juliet, she is a friendly little girl. She is approximately 1 year old so she is past the crazy kitten stage but still likes to have an occasional play, chasing a ball of paper on a piece of string is fast becoming a favorite of hers.
Juliet is looking for a family that wants a cat who is fairly independent but wants to be loved. She is quite the talker when she thinks her food dish is a little empty but otherwise she is content to follow you from room to room in the house until she finds a great place to sleep, which if you sit down may or may not be your lap. Juliet will make a great addition to almost any house, she is great around her foster families grandchildren (ages 2 – 6), doesn’t mind if they carry her around, but is pretty quick to run away when they finally put her down. She is also very relaxed around the two small dogs living in the house, she just ignores them and her foster brother (4 month old kitten) is super fun to play with and keep clean. ;)

MEWSFLASH ⚡ Snaggle + Pirate! 😻
We shared this pair of kittens after they arrived in our care early last week. [ Post here: http://bit.ly/2MjC3k3 ] After further examination, it was determined that their injuries appear to be a result of possible 'road rash' leading us to believe they were thrown from a vehicle. Whether it was intentional or not, these babies have suffered enough. We are working hard to get them back in good health prior to going up for adoption. 💚
Thank you to everyone who sponsored their care, they really appreciate it too and have been purring like crazy since they arrived. We could not do the work we do without your support!

'O, Canada! 🍁 No really, her name is Canada! She's here to wish you a happy and safe long weekend! 🐾
She came to us on the Canada Day long weekend and we knew right away that she was a special girl. Born with only 3 legs and an abnormally large overbite, which resulted in the removal of some of her baby teeth and will likely need her adult teeth to be extracted in the future. Even though she lacks a limb, she makes up for it in her high spirits! Nothing seems to slow this girl down, she's one tough cookie.
Now, now, settle down, Canada is looking for an adopter who is prepared to provide her with any future medical assistance she may require. This special girl deserves a very loving family to call her own. You can find out more about her and other adoptables at AARCS.ca/Adoptable-Dogs 💚

Say hello to our Foster Friday feature, NICK! 🐈 This boy is approximately one year old and has had a pretty ruff life so far. Poor fella came to us with a terribly injured knee after he was attacked by a dog. A very unfortunate incident which lead to the loss of his hind limb. Nick needs you meow, more than ever!
Due to his recent surgery, Nick is looking for a calm home to recover in. He is looking a little bummed out at the shelter waiting for someone to step forward. Could it be you? 💚

You won't believe the incredible thing Jordan did for the animals of AARCS! For ONE WHOLE YEAR, he collected bottles and cans in efforts to raise funds to save the lives of animals. 💚
With a little help from his bankers at ATB Financial, Jordan was able to raise and donated $1,150 this week! 🐾 This young man deserves a big round-of-a-paws! Thank you Jordon for changing lives through kindness.

Miss Milkyway is our Featured Fido this #WagginWednesday! She is a very mellow, friendly dog with lots of love to give. 🌟 For ONE WEEK she has the special adoption fee of only $250!
"Milkyway is a 6 year old Australian Cattle Dog mix who is totally house trained and crate trained and one of the easiest, most gentle foster dogs! She currently lives with two school aged children and is wonderful with them and laps up their attention and love. She enjoys multiple short walks a day but also is very content to snooze on her bed for hours at a time. She seems a little stiff in her legs so prefers short walks to major hikes.
This sweet girl had to have all but one of her teeth removed due to decay so she is on a soft food diet (she eats canned food with no problems). She could stand to lose a couple pounds so treats should be strictly limited. ;)
She has not been tested with cats in the home, but she is extraordinarily gentle and patient with kids, and is fine with other dogs she meets on walks (sometimes interested and friendly, sometimes indifferent, and has been known to growl at pesky, annoying whippersnappers who need a lesson in manners!).
She mainly just wants to be in a forever home where she can hang out with you and show you her lifelong devotion, give you lots of kisses, receive belly rubs and head scratches, and dance around with delight when you walk in the door.

[ Frank the Doxie is fighting for his life! 💔 ]
Frankfurter "Frank", was just rescued after being brutally attacked by another, larger animal which was left untreated for far too long, leaving his wounds deep and full of infection. His elderly and frail body is fighting as hard as it possibly can, but we do not know for sure if he will make it at this time. Frank is currently in critical care at our veterinary hospital being treated for anemia as well as severe dehydration with IV fluids and medications.
We are hopeful he will keep fighting with supportive care and hospitalization. #PUPDATE: Last night he had a little sparkle in his eye and began to eat a little bit on his own, regrettably today he is not feeling as well and is back to syringe feedings. Stay strong Frank, we believe in you! 💚

We've got a #TransformationTuesday coming at ya! ♥️ A few months ago we shared a story about a dog named Indie who came to us with a large group of dogs and a couple of cats from one of our partner groups -- Nar La Ronge in Saskatchewan. Due to her lack of human interaction, she was a bit more difficult to rescueIndie had to be trapped humanely so that she could be brought into our care. In the beginning, she was very fearful and would cower near the back of her run However, with patience, love and kindness, Indie began to come around as each day passed.
Today, we want to share a #Pupdate with you! This past weekend, Indie and her new family went back country camping in Kananaskis and she did incredible! The whole time she carried a great big smile on her face and even her own nap-sack. Hard to believe how far she has come over the past few months. Oh the adventures yet to come! Way to go Indie, we're so happy for you and your new leash on life! 🐾

I love everything that they do after losing my 20 year old cat in fall of 2016 my older cat who was 12 was very depressed so I set out to find a new one and the experience was so great I got the best kitten who has brought such sunshine and laughter and love to my whole condominium floor .thank you

I've been a volunteer with AARCS since October and I have never been so amazed by the love, compassion and care given to all of the animals in their journey's to find their forever homes. I am so happy with this organization and their professionalism and would 11/10 recommend anyone wanting to adopt, volunteer or work for this agency at some point in their lives. Thank you for all that you do AARCS, you are some real heroes to our four legged friends �

I've been volunteering for AARCS since fall of 2017 and in November we adopted a cat (Otto, formerly Boron) from them. I'm so thrilled to be part of an incredible team of people who obviously love animals and go to great lengths to help abused, abandoned, homeless souls find loving forever homes. They go above and beyond and have great partnerships with other agencies in neighbouring provinces, all committed to helping animals in need. My childhood dream was to have a German shepherd dog. I have shown interest many puppies before Riley and It didn't work out cz someone else got them first. Always looked at it as it wasn't meant to be.
When I first saw Rilely and read the honest description of her on her profile I knew she was the one. I was hoping that we can get her. Luckily for us, the one couple ahead of us didn't make it to meet her and she was in Edmonton and so we were next in line. The day before Christmas Eve was one of the worst days to drive to Edmonton and we did it cz we knew it was worth it. When we got there she ran out the door to great us and my husband and I both fell in love with her. We brought her home the day of and we have been happy ever since. She loves people kids, other dogs, she's amazing. We trust that Riley will be a great big sister for our baby daughter that is due in June.response / report this review -

A great big Shout Out to the TNR Program and the awesome volunteers. We had a feral cat “problem” at our lake property and we contacted them. It took some coordination and scheduling but they came out, set traps and caught over 20+ cats. Even our resident Mama cat and her litter of 2day old babies. So far 3 have been returned after being fixed but unable to be tamed (we’re Ok with it) and the rest have been, or will be, adopted out to good homes. It makes our hearts happy!! Thank you for all you do for any and all animals in need!!

I love Aarcs! They helped introduce me and my boyfriend to our beautiful girl! She came to our house as a foster and never left, she has helped me through a rough pregnancy; she would cuddle with me on the couch, and helped bring our new born baby into the house and helped make our house a home. Thank you so much for helping us find our girl! The staff is SUPER professional and completely compassionate!

We adopted our little pal Arrow from AARCS and couldnt be more happy. He loves kids. He is my road trip buddy and makes a great co-pilot. We were told that he isnt too good around other dogs however we constantly are introducing him to new dogs and so far so good. Loves going to my parents place to play with our 16 year okd pitbull and 165 pound rotti. Thanks AARCS

We adopted our newest addition Hart from aarcs, now known as Sadie. She was 6 months at the time and such a cute little pup. The whole adoption process was so easy and nice considering I had a hard time with another rescue. I was contacted within hours of submitting my application and met with Sadie and the foster family within days. I was not rushed to make a decision I could take as long as I like which was awesome I didn't have to compete with anyone else for her. I highly recommend aarcs to anyone wanting a rescue animal! I am an advocate for adopt don't shop and after adopting from aarcs and seeing how easy the process was and how amazing they were to work with I recommend aarcs to everyone!

i was second in the line who applied for one puppy and after 3 days aarcs wrote me that the puppy is available but that time i was moving from an apartment to a house so i asked if they can hold the puppy for me one more week and when i checked their website the puppy was available for an adoption

We adopted out kitten this past summer. The process was quick and easy and the foster home was really helpful in talking to us about each of the kittens and which would be best for our current cat. AARCS does amazing work, we're so happy with our Thomas (AARCS name Orion) �

We fit all the criteria to adopt a special needs dog, but was denied even before getting the chance to meet the dog. We were told by the foster home that the dog did not get along with other dogs, yet the agency told us "Buddy would do best in a home with another well balanced & calm dog that he can spend time with". I have two well balanced senior dogs. Their dog specialist does not like Cesar (Dog whispers) practices, and when I mentioned I used them I think that was the predetermined reason. It's great they rescue dogs, It's just to bad they prejudge people. I have copied and pasted my correspondence with them publicly on my Facebook page. Another point is because Buddy was a special needs the Specialist said she would like to be there when the meet and greet took place, but since she was in Calgary and had no intentions to go to Edmonton for a while, she couldn't. Maybe if someone with real experience in introducing dogs had been there the results might have been different. Guess, I will never know. Update: My dogs went to another meet and greet with a dog that had possessive aggression issues (with other dogs) the meet and greet went very well with my two well balanced dogs and we are adopting the dog through a different agency. See that happens when you don't prejudge people and gave every-one a chance. Update 2: I am now downgrading this site to a 1 because they have representatives trying to harass me, because of the low review (which I had to block).

I have adopted 2 cats from AARCS - they do the proper screening to match the animals to the right home as best they can. They genuinely care about the animals in their care and do everything possible to help them have happy lives :-)

We were unsure about getting a rescue since we needed a puppy we could train to handle the sounds associated with a musician/music teacher. Also we wanted a gentle dog for my anxiety and depression which sometimes my work adds to *note I love my work but teaching special needs is stressful* We saw Mushu while investigating the process on your site. When we met her we knew she was the one. She is such a pretty loving smart dog and even tho it was rough the first few days we love her and don't regret it. We would recommend AARCS to others and one day adopt again

I adopted my boy Calvin yesterday. I truly cannot tell you how great the entire experience was. The volunteers and workers are very passionate about the animals. Making sure to rehabilitate and train before adopting them out. What's more, they make sure to best match with the right owner. Gillian& Chris (the foster parentes) actually came out to our place to see what intro would be like to our cat. Thanks so much! Very great full! Xoxo

Jude(Star) will be 2 on Saturday Dec 10th, we have had her since she was 8 weeks old. She is a great addition to our world, she literally saved us after losing both our 19 yr old cat and our 13 yr old Pup with in 2 months of each other. Our home was sad and miserable and she brought light and laughter back into it! You all are wonderful in what you do and I can't thank you enough!

We have been lucky enough to get to adopt Buttons into our family. The entire process has been really excellent. The website, the adoption managers, the medical manager, the foster family. Just so great! The final process was easy with the website paperwork. Our vet will be thrilled to see such complete medical information on our sweet girl too. All around aces!
