I spoke with Laura last week about getting a tattoo. A week later I was booked. This was for my first tattoo which ended up then becoming a second in the same session. I was nervous as all hell. But it quickly faded. Laura was professional. Polite. And just amazing. Totally recommend this place. 100% I'm sure I'll be back

I called on Saturday to have some piercing done. Couldn't make it by the time they closed on Saturday. So I made an appt to come in Sunday at 1:30. The girl on phone didn't take my name or number. My mistake there. I show up and the piercer has "called in sick." Thanks Ace and Swords. You are a tattoo piercing shop that takes appointments but doesn't have an appointment book. Good business practice. So. Not. Happy.

I have been pierced by a number of people in the past and Mel provided by far the best experience. She is knowledgable, kind, and very friendly. I visited the shop with a friend and we really appreciated her input when discussing the piercings we were interested in. She provided very helpful information and we ended up with piercings that we are extremely happy with. I will definitely be getting pierced by Mel again, and I look forward to purchasing some great jewelry from her. Thanks!

I've had all 6 of my tatts done here! First one was done by Steve, back when it was known as the Great Canadian Tattoo company, and 3 were done by Dave. I love all of them!
When my 17 year old son wanted to get his eyebrow and ear pierced, I told him I would bring him to Ace and Swords.
Mel was very knowledgeable and friendly and I was confident we made the right choice. Brought him back after the holidays to get her to change his first eyebrow ring and she was happy to do it.

Went in for a dermal piercing, Mel was awesome and truthfully told me the placing wasn't the best idea ( can easily rip out) instead of just taking my money we spent a good 20 mins finding other places to put the piercing. Was a quick and easy experience.

I have been here several times for ink by Carmin who does awesome work. It's clean, friendly and professional. They take the time to listen to what the client wants, or in some cases (like me) helps them out with size, placement etc.Going in July for my 9th piece which will be done by Danielle and I am totally stoked!
I have recommended the shop to any one who asks where I had my ink done.

I am terrified by piercing and I just got my Septum pierced.. Mel was amazing, I was really nervous but she calmed me down and guided me step by step. Very professional and very warm! She answered all my questions, she showed me how to hide the piercing.. The day I'll want another piercing, I will come back here for sure! Thank you Mel!!!

Spent 7 hours here with Elyse yesterday. The art that she designed for me was/is beyond what I imagined. I am more than satisfied with the work on my current piece so far. I got my first tattoo here 13 years ago and I will continue to come here for any future work.

I've been going to the same place for years to get pierced, so I was a little hesitant to try somewhere new. My worries were unfounded; everyone in the shop was super nice, and my piercer was very professional, but at the same time nice and fun to talk with. The process was very quick and overall quite painless. I had my septum done and aside from the bite from the actual needle going through, it doesn't hurt at all! My concerns over being able to hide it for work were addressed, too, and the ring was widened accordingly so I can tuck it away when needed.
I had a great experience and I will absolutely be coming back. I felt confident in getting the piercing and I love the result. Everything about my visit was perfect. I would definitely recommend stopping by!response / report this review -

WORST TATTOO PLACE EVER!!! so unprofessional! I came in July 16th and gave my $100 deposit to Dave. that was a Thursday and I told him that the following Tuesday was a good day for me and he told me he wasn't sure to call him in the week. Monday July 20th came around and I decided to call and ask if Dave was available and I was told that he was on vacation. wtf he never told me that he was on going to be on vacation when I went in there the week before to put in my deposit. ok so now I was thinking its still ok, I will call the following week. the lady I talked to I'm guessing was karmen b/c it sounded like her told me that maybe he took my sketch with him b/c she doesn't see it there"nd my $100 that he used for a good vacation". so yesterday July 29th I called and someone told me that he was with a client right now if I would like to leave a message.so I did & asked if he could call me bak.that never happened all day..then today july30th I called again & suddenly he has a death in his family that I should call him in a week. my condolences IF that's true..but somehow I don't believe it. b/c I know he was in the shop today b/c he told the guy to to call me back with some bullshit! instead of telling me himself. Then Karmen had the nerve to answer the phone with such disrespect and rudeness! I know I did not come off aggressive b/c my husband was sitting right next to meand she started to yell at me! thank you btw for making this the worst experience ever. my husband and I have had 5 BIG tats done there by Steve, 2 portraits and 3 misc. and never have i/we ever been so disrespected. I know when I come in tomorrow afternoon that no one will refund me my $100. but at least I will be able to tell you and the world of social media what a bad experience I had. honestly if u had a death in the family wtf r u doing in the shop. if its a quick $100 ur trying to make or if its b/c i'm brown idk. or maybe its b/c I had work done by steve and you guys don't like that w/e the reason im getting the run around and treated unfairly its wrong. totally wrong. I will never come here and I will share it with everyone I know, to never come here again. I feel like my money was stolen from me and there is no way in hell I would ever get a tattoo there again. You have lost all my trust! it was better when steve was there!

Carmin and Danielle were at the Rochester Tattoo Expo in New York last week and they were amazing! Their work really stuck out from everyone else's. They were professional, clean, laid back cool girls! Carmin tattooed my boyfriend mom and I and she did amazing with each one of us:) I would go to Canada just to get tattooed by her again!

As an artist, it was a great experience,my first time ever, visiting the ace and sword; I grew up only knowing about tattooing, in Toronto, and the Toronto area. Dave has always a great reputation, not only as a tattooer, but also as a legendary person. I was humbled to be in the presence of not only him, but also a slew of great artists. It's very rare to find tattoo shops that have such a tight knit of a family, friends, artists. I had only briefly met, some of these artists previously at different conventions, but when I arrived, I arrived with the utmost of greetings. I love going to the ace and sword. Although, I'm usually the quiet one, I know I'm not shunned or ridiculed by a wonderfully accepting batch of talented people. I also highly recommend this shop to anyone I can; Danielle is a prize to the black n grey realism world, mark with his awesome 80s influenced illustration type tattooing, dave with his classic American style infused with the story of "Toronto tattooing" ,and newest member, Elyse, who already was a great friend, and brought a strange and beautifully unique style to the table, heavily influenced by biomechanics yet organic enough that any woman could wear her tattoos and not worry about it looking inappropriate. I also mean what I say, I've been tattooed by Dave. And amongst, Dan Henk, Mario Desa, big sleeps, John Larson, and some of the "big names" on my body, Dave's tattoo will always hold the most sentiment and be one of my most favourite. Now Mel, let me say this, I have ALWAYS known of Mel since I was first starting out; tattooers and piercers (from my eyes) have always been "cats and dogs". But Mel? Not only are you offered a piercing that is guaranteed to suit you so well, in placement, through a well thought piercer, but you have all these years of experience and artistry backing it up. I have NEVER encountered a piercing artist that has so beautifully meshed amongst, and understood, tattooers and the fundamentals of managing a shop, like Mel. Truly, Mel, is the piercer I wish worked at every shop, since I started tattooing.
It's ALWAYS a pleasure being at ace and sword. And I highly recommend anyone to visit this shop at least a handful of times. It's shops like this that remind me of why I even wanted to become a part of this industry.response / report this review -

Really cares about their customers. Good crew of artists that did a great job ! I would recommend getting your tattoo done by Carmin or Danielle for sure ! Super proffessional and sweet . 5/5 for them helping my girlfriend and I, doing a makeover. They turned out super great !!
