Black Rock Lodge is an amazing place. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, the food at the restaurant was outstanding, the cabin was comfortable and charming, and the jungle setting was breathtaking. It was a unique vacation experience for us and I would absolutely recommend.

What a terrific place. A bit out-of-the-way and down a 12 mile long pothole filled "road" but worth it. Took the Carocal Tour with Vincent as our guide. He seemed to be knowledgeable in zoology, horticulture, history, etc. also just a fun guy. A fantastic tour. Thanks Vincent! Rooms are great, location is fabulous. Staff is terrific. We loved how you are "forced" to dine with others at your table. Met many fine people this way. Also the food is wonderful. Very fresh.

A bit pricey but an incredible experience. The staff are so knowledgeable and helpful. Our hiking guide Jorge was fun and witty and knew just about everything about his jungle. From the flora to the fauna and the unique characteristics of certain plants and animals. Highly recommended!

The staff is incredibly friendly and unexpectedly catering. This is a very affordable place to vacation and since it's in the jungle it has a ton of unique personality. The views are what lifetime memories are made of. The food they serve is absolutely amazing. I only stayed for one night but was in other parts of Belize for the remainder of a week and Black Rock had the most delicious food I had my whole trip. Wish I could have had more time to spend at Black Rock Lodge. I hiked to the cave (if you are nimble, you can crawl in and explore and it's worth it). I also hiked to the summit of the mountain, overlooking the river valley and also up to the river falls. I innertubed down the river (they provide the tubes, life vests and helmets, complimentary). They also offer use of mountain bicycles complimentary, although I didn't have enough time to do any biking. The swimming pool is a natural spring fed pool (it smells funny, but don't worry, it's clean and safe..just take a shower after you swim to rid the smell). Word of warning, (don't make the same mistake I did) if you are out walking around the establishment close to midnight..have a flashlight with you. The power cuts off and you won't be able to see 2 feet in front of you because it is too dark. It was a very interesting walk back to my room in the dark, in the jungle.

Impeccable. Wide range of activities to do. Great local food served on-site (though a bit pricey). The staff were always a step ahead and offered services before we even thought to ask.

2.5 hr drive from the airport, scary 7 miles of dirt road, just about 1 mile from Guatemala, this place was wonderful. Stay in 1 room cabins with no air conditioning. The main "lodge" is an open air A-Frame. This is used for check-in, dining and mixing with other guests. "Assigned" seating at dinner with other guests. You don't have to but it is worth it. Get to know what they did that day and make your decisions for your excursions. At breakfast you pick your dinner, two choices - vegetarian or a meat. All were very good. It's 45 minutes to town so you don't really have much choice. Excursions are 1 to 3 hour drive. ALL THE GUIDES are FANTASTIC!!!!!! All of the ruin sites are really great!! We did them all. We did Saturday market visit in town, chocolate making, Caracol, the Iguana farm, Xunantunich and more. There is on site hiking up a mountain quite interesting, tubing, etc. This place runs on solar energy and hydro energy. Electric is limited, no air conditioning. We visited in rainy season and had some serious downpours but it never affected anything we did.

Late to write this review, by my wife and I stayed here for the first three nights of our honeymoon last year (May '16). This place is amazing! The food was incredible (very fresh), the rooms were comfortable and luxurious (for being in the jungle), and the adventures were unforgettable. We went to Caracol, ziplining, cave-tubing, local hiking, and night hiking. Our guides were very knowledgeable and personable. I can't say enough about the staff. Very friendly and helpful. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Black Rock Lodge. We will definitely be back.

Wonderful luxury in the middle of the jungle - the staff are great, facilities and rooms just as well, and the food! They organise excursions too, lots to do and see in the area

Excellent lodge with fantastic, very knowledgeable and personable staff who did everything they could to make our stay so memorable. We enjoyed ATM tour, canoeing, night walk to see tarantulas and birdwatching. Highly recommended

My hubby and I went here for our honeymoon. Amazing experience! The staff was so friendly and the food was incredible (I'm a vegetarian and they offered me my own, separate delicious meals). The room was absolutely beautiful. We took advantage of the many tours they offered (ATM cave, trip to Tikal, horseback riding, canoeing) and each experience is now a treasured memory for us. I can't say enough good things about this place!

The lodge sounded like a great place to stay, so of course we booked it for a couple of nights. I just didn't realize how wonderful it would be! Not only were the rooms very comfortable, but the location was beautiful. The sounds of all the various birds and water rapids was unforgettable. And the view from the main dining area was breathtaking. The dining is family style during dinner and we met the best people! I can't not mention the food. It was delicious! I only wish we could have had more time therenot only to explore the grounds, but to enjoy all the activities they offer. We definitely hope to someday return!
