Amazing Eco Community. This Tropical rain forest is the most amazing in Belize. A very well managed and established Eco Community.with stellar views and picture perfect waterfalls. Located not far from Xunantunich ruins and Cave World Adventures make this the perfect destination to visit and live.
Beautiful hideaway. The food Christey made for us every morning and night was delicious and she very kindly made special dishes for me as the vegetarian in our party of six. The rooms were small but nice. It takes some getting used to walking outside (sometime in the rainforest's drizzles) in order to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, but it wasn't so bad. Plus, only the two bedrooms downstairs have to do this. The upstairs bedrooms have access to an indoor bathroom (with hot water as well)! Robert, the manager, was extremely friendly, helpful, and interesting to talk to about Belize and it's Mayan history. He was a great tour guide on our caving and cliff jumping adventures in the area.
Lots of raw adventure swimming, mountain and waterfall climbing and bar b que n drinks on a patoon.
The best tropical rainforest paradise! Better in Belize is an amazing and beautiful ecofriendly community located at the foothills of the Maya Mountains in Western Belize. Its pristine green forest has breathtaking scenes of the Belize river valley and hiking in the break of dawn is a must for all nature lovers as it is when the music of the rainforest comes alive with the best sight and sound of nature. Taking an afternoon dip in the cool clear running waterfall is very much relaxing and refreshing but that’s not all as there is the opportunity to jump aboard the pontoon tour and get the thrilling adventure to jump off one of three unique waterfalls. Better in Belize is certainly the best place for retiring or vacationing with loved ones.
Located just opposite the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve is this hidden gem known as Better in Belize EcoVillage. This off-grid community offers scenic views of the Macal River. The owners thrive in solar-powered/eco living, some of the homes in this village are made of premium Belizean hardwood each with its own unique and intricate design. This haven also boasts a community organic garden with a wide array of medicinal as well as fruit-bearing trees and plants, hiking trails where the ancient Maya ancestors once roamed free, Jungle Pontoon Boat Tours available on site and breath-taking views of the Vaca Lake. The “lookout” is a must see with the most magnificent view of this 132 acre eco community!
This is a private neighborhood in the remote jungle. It includes access to pontoon boat tours available via local tour operators.
My wife and I have been considering off the grid living for some time now. We discovered Better in Belize quite by accident and were intrigued with the possibility. The property is isolated while remaining accessible. Town is a 10 mile car ride to the north west via a dirt road. Looey Tremblay is a master visionary and has created a truly unique Eco development in the Belizean rain forest. Rain catchment and full battery tied solar systems are included in the price and plan of the homes. Even more impressive than the design is the way Looey has integrated his plan with the best interests of the local towns people fully in mind. His labor pool is from the local area and the pay rate is above average. All materials where possible are from local sources as well. A minimum of lot timbering has ensured the local fauna are effected as minimally as possible and has in effect preserved the natural beauty of the rain forest and its native animals. Most notably the numerous troupes of howler monkeys. We hope to one day call this home.
As a soon to be retired nurse I can't wait to make BIB my new home. I came last year (2014) in June and bought my waterfront lot. I have bought 2 more lots since then and planning on building a rental home.
Within my week's stay the developer Looey Tremblay and local builder Jorge Rosales helped me to nail down a building plan for my sustainable dream home..it just got finished here in May!!! From the buying to the building process it was an absolute amazing experience. I just stayed for the first time in my new home in May and didn't want to leave.
If you are looking for sustainability, peace and tranquility living in the rainforest among like minded people, BIB is the place to go. I get my electricity from solar, my water from a spring and my fruits, veggies and eggs from the community gardens.
Come be my neighbor!!
Went to visit Belize for our Honeymoon in 2012. Fell in love with the community. We ended up purchasing 2 lots and plan on building in the future.
The rain forest is beautiful and it overlook a 2,500 acre lake. Very peaceful and professionally laid out. The stars at night are so bright and beautiful it is almost hard to believe.
Definitely something to check out and who knows maybe you will be part of the community some day!
Better in Belize is a must see! The houses are top notch; built with exotic, local hardwoods and beautifully finished. It is located on the banks of the Macal River and is easily accessible and there are even waterfalls to enjoy! The jungle homes are perfect for those who prefer privacy. Will definitely go back!
An absolutely breathtaking location. In the foothills of some stunning mountains and cliffs. 3 gorgeous, unknown waterfalls are just across the river/lake. It was definitely worth the visit! If you are considering living in Belize check it out.
