Trek to this temple starts some 8 KM from Punakha Dzong. It will take around 2 hrs to reach the top where temple is situated. Its good to spend some 45 minutes in and around the temple and then again 1.5 hours to come down.
Way up the temple is not very defined and goes through feilds and many a times u will have to search for the right one. Once you reach there what awaits you is picturesque view of the valley and beautiful temple. Its the only temple in the region where you can enter, go to the top come out at roof and enjoy the breeze, i guess its due to very little rush to tourist that they don't mind at all you making your own way to different floors and places in temple. Priest there told us that even queen at some festival visits the temple walking all the way up on foot.
There are no shops on the way so keep your water bottle filled and ready before starting the trek. Keep a few things to snack on the top. Dzong at punakha open between 9 to 1 pm and then 3 to 5 pm. So schedule your trip accordingly. Moreover just 2 km towards Khumsum from dzong the river view is so enchanting that you would love to halt and rest there for a while. I have added the pics of the river bank that is some 2 from Dzong. So I would recommend you start trek in morning, spend time at river and then visit dzong. Hope you find this helpful. Go have fun.

Awesome location and religious site to visit. An hour hike up and 45.mins down. Said to be one and only kind in the worldbuilt in late 90's to keep away the negative and evil powers harming our current while as a Crown Prince.

After the end of the Hike if you change your mind to Raft down the river just do call us before coming to Punakha or make your reservations.

Located some 2kms ahead of Punakha Dzong. This temple is situated atop a hill and requires a moderate hike. But the view from top makes it up. If you're lucky you'll find monks with their prayers and offerings

Hike to the monastery is challenging and it takes about 40 mins hike up the steep. From the monastery you get the beautiful aerial view of the Punakha valley, Yibesa village and colorful rice field. From the monastery you can either return to the road or take a further hike to Jiligang and then descend to Punkha where you will see a confluence of famous me and female river of Punakha.

Khamsum Yulley Namgyal 紀念碑。從普納卡市中心開車約40分鐘，轉入小路後抵達一處約有三間平房的小村庄，接著經過一座吊橋並走過45分鐘的蜿蜒稻田小徑，一路輕鬆爬登便可抵達Khamsum Yulley Namgyal 紀念碑。
在20世紀90年代，不丹第三世王后 Ashi Tshering Yangdon Wangchuk 決定修建一個紀念碑來為不丹祈福，保祐其子民與一切有情眾生。而其真實目的是為了保護太子，保證皇室的安全以實現不丹的繁榮，後來選擇了這個地點進行建造。整個工程歷時八年半。
這座具有四層樓的紀念碑的興建方式特別在於，其建築設計細節都取自於佛經，而非技術類書籍。
站在紀念塔上可展望整個 Punakha 山谷，將一切的美景盡收眼底；來到此處的心情無比雀躍，不丹真不愧是人間最後一片淨土。
