When your yoga practise is asking for more the this is a good place to start. No only do they teach an excellent hatha yoga but you will be immersed in all other aspects of true ashram life, including philosophy anathomy and daily chanting. For the true lovers it's a great place to go and ..it's right on the Caribbean beach and includes a good veggie cuisine.
This is my absolute favorite getaway from the real world!! Incredible property, a focus on connecting with yourself, learning from world educators, and living a clean and healthy lifestyle. I may be a lifetime yoga vacationer here. 😁
This place was just amazing! Physically and mentally for me I'm going back for restorative yoga class in April. The food was awesome I really thought I was going to miss my meat that I didn't at all. The paths and ponds and trees make you feel so relaxed and then walking along the beach of course you just can't beat that. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to restore themselves
Be sure to bring a knife with you when you come. I had to use spoons to butter the bread. They often run out of food so be sure to load up on your first and only pass. It is closed and cultish. I'm so happy to leave this prison today. Pretty grounds. Lots of meditation and frowns if you do not toe the line. And they beg.. no staff, please help us wash the dishes. We need a new boat, please donate. Full of neurotic anxiety ridden middle aged females.
Its the perfect place to disconnect and re-ground yourself. Have been coming for years - love it!
If you’re looking to reboot yourself. This is the place !!! Never in my life have I felt a sense of peace and tranquility within myself. The ashram is a place of rebirth. I loved every minute of it , I will definitely make this “my once a year trip by myself for myself “. Namaste🙏
Did my yoga teacher training here. Was good value for money and safe. Perfect for solo travellers!
i work there as the head boat captain
Not as advertised.
If you're thinking this will be a quiet relaxing vacation with some yoga - then think again. This is a strict, traditional ashram, filled with middle aged white women who are taking the Pray phase of their Eat, Pray, Love journey very seriously. This ashram operates mainly as a commune - most of the people here are doing "karmic service" (ie kitchen work, cleaning, working the stores, boats) in exchange for free room, board, and yoga studies.
These people doing karmic study act as if the paying guests are invading their space and can be quite rude.
There is a strict clothing policy - which I understand in the scared spaces like the temples, but the website is misleading- it says that beach wear is appropriate in the rest of the resort but if you wear anything exposing your shoulder or knees be sure to expect some kind of bitchy or disapproving looks.
The food is great. The beach is beautiful.
Quiet and peaceful atmosphere for relaxation and yoga . . . Probably would be helpful if you were knowledgeable in the teachings of the ashram but it wouldn't necessarily impede your enjoyment of the great vegetarian food.
Hard to describe our trips to the retreat. We've come with kids and loved it, we've come as a couple and bonded and solo for a mental recharge. We love this place.
The Yoga Retreat is my home away from home in Paradise.
I again open to the Bliss and love within, returning inspired, and revitalized to share and be present with my clients and students in full awareness of this truth.
Deep gratitude to the Universe, lineage, and dedicated, loving staff of the Ashram for this gift. ❤️
Nothing beats getting stuck on an island with bunch of beautiful people and getting pampered daily with 2 meals, 2 yoga classes and meditations. Can't think of anything worst than that. (sarcasm)
This last time I went (last week), the food was exceptionally better. This was my 3 or 4 time going, and the previous times, the meals were mediocre (meh) I heard from the inside that they doubled the budget last year and offer more varieties like avocados and using different spices
Oh, yes the best part is that you can literally roll out of bed (tent) and be on the beach.
Also, I noticed when I was trapped on Paradise island, I didn't have the urge to spend extra money (besides the occasional mid afternoon snacks), and I wasted less.
Amazing experience during my yoga vacation stay earlier this year. Various levels of classes to choose from, yoga lectures and also enjoyed the visiting Indian dance program. Overall a very relaxing and friendly atmosphere and I felt refreshed. Wished I could stay longer than my few days. Will definitely be back again.
