I would not recommend this place! Never! The food is overrated and the service is very unpleasant. As I was told be the waiter "the risk is with the customer"!!!
The hotel has fantastic views of the sea and the new part of Sozopol, make sure to book a room with a sea view..it's amazing! Million dollar view! It is also located in a fantastic location. There are many small variety stores close by and you can pickup beer, juice and water for almost regular price and keep it cool in the room refrigerator. Our room was spacious and clean. The staff is all friendly, our room was always cleaned (you have to leave the sign on the door), the breakfast was good (everything was covered) Just no tea at breakfast 😮, so I settled for a hot chocolate. We also ate lunch here, it was very tasty and the portions were large.
We decided to give this place 3 stars because of the view and location but there were a few issues.
Firstly arriving at the hotel, baring in mind it's one of the more expensive in Sozopol, the receptionist was not very warm, quite awkward actually. We didn't even realise he worked there as we saw him on the street dressed casually, then the next moment he showed up at reception. Very strange and not very sociable.
We also had a bad experience with housekeeping. On one of the days that we stayed there, the cleaner didn't turn up and no one had cleaned our room. Not only that but none of the staff bothered to let us know or provide toiletries or fresh towels, if we handn't asked they wouldn't have bothered.
We had breakfast included within our booking but soon discovered that the food was not all covered and there were flies all over it. None of the staff seemed to take notice and were too busy smoking and having a chat. In addition to this, Sozopol is such a beautiful and tranquil place in the mornings. It's so calm and quite but this was all ruined by the staff as they were blasting extremely loud music in the morning at breakfast. We were hoping to enjoy the quite and listen to the sound of the waves but even after we'd complained, there was no such luck.
Also we once asked if we can buy a cup of coffee from the hotel restaurant and take it up to our room but the staff refused and told us this was not permitted which is strange as we were guests at the hotel.
We also didn't really understand why we were charged extras to use the hotel safe, this is something that should have been included as one of the more expensive hotels, made no sense.
Although I only had a drink on my last visit, the bar staff remembered me from my previous visit, when I'd stayed in their hotel. This hotel has some of the best views towards New Sozopol and the distant coast.
Superb accommodation, but bathrooms are slightly cramped. Excellent menu and the meals although priced above average, are not extortionate. Very friendly staff and management. Not the cheapest hotel, but certainly worth a visit.
