Nice collection. The visitors "flow" could improve. Doesn't feel very natural/logical and one could get a little lost. Very helpful staff though!

Modern museum architecture, very nice fixed exhibitions with local historical art. Daring and sometimes interesting temporary artists. Building is very large so it should be possible to show a bit more from the art they have instead of storing it. You easily spend 4-5 hours or even a full day if you want to see everything.

It was an engaging journey through Utopia. Huge variety of artefacts with small bits of interactivity here and there (informative displays or a VR headset). I think the expositions change from time to time, so it does not go stale that much either. Overall fun experience.

Beautiful building, excellent exhibitions and an interesting way of making you think about how art is displayed and what effect it has on visitors.

Excellent approach to getting kids involved with art too with special guides for the young ones for every expo.

I also like how the museum is an active player in seeing how art and high-tech can interact.

For such a small country, Belgium has a decent amount of class museums. Leuven thought it shouldn't leg behind and opened Museum M (just called M here) in 2009. I'm a keen museum visitor, but never have come to grips with the place. In the first place, its (not too large) collection (but of great historic value) mainly consists of medieval religious art, not always my cuppa (half of the church at the grand market is now part of M too, so your ticket will let you visit half a church with religious art as well. A handful of top works). Lots of temporary exhibitions have been rehashing the art from different thematic perspectives, so I've kind of seen it by now. The museum combines that scope with an interest in contemporary art. However, the temp exhibitions with modern art are usually quite small, making revisiting too expensive.

This museum shows old master pieces of church art and pairings in the golden ages of Dutch.
The painting shows us blue, bright and wet climate of Netherlands. Especially, Frans Hals's portrait deeply impressed me, in which people often smiled.
