Very bad food, Very expensive for the service and quality

Food was awful. I got the steak and frites. My steak was burnt and brown. Completely over cooked. My husband had the duck, which was ok but tough. Neither of us received a knife to cut our meat, so we had to use our butter knives. Very disappointing first dinner in Brussels. The only upside is the waiter was very friendly. He tries very hard to communicate with us. Our French is very limited but we tried. I wouldn't try this place.

A cafe in the Parisian style, meaning you've got to make an effort as a customer in order to get the best experience. Typical backpackers with their gear spilling out onto another table will not be appreciated here. Food is fine for Grand Place. Good beer list and the people watching can't be beat.

Nice decoration and atmosphere.
We went there as a group of 14 guys on a saturday evening, problem was we had to split in 2 tables but still it was a good time.
We had cool starters with cheese / ham / olives + 3 samples of beer (around 10€) and very yummy typical main courses : waterzooi (chicken or fish with nice gravy made of cream / butter) and carbonade (beef and beer). Main courses are around 17-22€.
We did not have the mussels since 22 to 25€ seemed expensive for us.
The service was nice. We did not wait long and the waiters were well dressed and very professionals.
Probably not the best restaurant in Brussels BUT it's way better than a lot of very very touristy restaurants around the Grand Place.response / report this review -

Nice environment, and good traditional Belgian food. The waiter was a bit haphazard, for example, he walked off in the middle of taking our order to seat some people who had just walked into the place. Our wine was slow to arrive and we had to remind him. He was friendly enough though and it didn't spoil the experience.
Food was very tasty, but I don't have much experience of other Belgian food to compare to. Croquettes and rabbit stew was well cooked and full of flavour. Good beers as expected in Brussels, and the Chablis was tasty too.
I would definitely recommend this place, but there are better places to eat in Brussels.response / report this review
