Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) was constituted on 20 December 1987 as per Section 2A of the Motor Vehicles Ordinance 1983 (Amended 1987) and has been in operation since January 1988.
BRTA was formed to ensure sound road transport management, discipline in the road transport sector and road safety provisions. BRTA was formed under the then Ministry of Communications (now the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges) to implement the Motor Vehicles Ordinance 1983.
The Chairman is vested with the omnipotence of the BRTA. It is also the responsibility of the chairman to perform the functions issued by the government from time to time.response / report this review -

BRTA or Bangladesh Road Transport Authority building is located very next to Bangladesh Bridge Authority building.
Its a government office has been working on cars road permit, car registrations and all related to cars and roads.

The newly built Head Office of BRTA at Mohakhali, Dhaka will change everybody's knowledge about this Government office. The huge sized latest designed building with cordial staff behavior pleased me a lot.

Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) was Established under section 2A of Motor Vehicle Ordinance 1983, (Amendment-1987) Vide SRO No-303/Law/87/MVRT/1E-7/84(part), Dated 20/12/87 and has been functioning since January 1988.
BRTA is a regulatory body to control manage and ensure discipline in the road transport sector and road safety related areas in Bangladesh. It is an authority under the Ministry of Communication for carrying out the purposes mentioned in the Motor Vehicle Ordinance, 1983. The Chairman is the chief executive of the authority. He exercises such power and performs such function as prescribed by rules and assigned by the government from time to time.
As per revised organogram total number of circle is 62 (57 District Circle + 5 Metro Circle). At present 57 circles are working where 61 AD (Engg.) is posted as head of the office. Rest of the sanctioned circles are administered from near by circles (57 circles).
According to revised organogram the number of sanctioned office staff is 815 out of which 479 are working presently & Vacant Post 336. The remaining post are in the process of recruitment.

Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) a regulatory body was constituted under the Ministry of Communication in 1987 following the rapid expansion of national highway, regional and feeder roads and the rising demands for road transportation. BRTA started its operations formally in 1990 to formulate rules and regulations for control of motorised transport as and when required. BRTA is also responsible to render its services efficiently to achieve a sustainable road safety mechanism beside an efficient, responsive, economic, less time consuming, comfortable and eco-friendly road transport system in the country. IT-based services have been introduced here to make those easily accessible to the clients through up gradation of software and automation of BRTA enforcement activities.
